So apparently we're favourites to pick up Andrew Bynum.

What do you guys think of this?

mixed feelings. I worry that he has a bad attitude but could hope that our good chemistry might rub off on him.

I can't find a source that says we're the favorites, but this guy still has talent. The question is his work ethic and attitude. I wouldn't mind adding him in hope that he turns he turns his career around, but I'll keep my hopes in check.

I would love this if the guy didn't have attitude problems.. I think he's to much of a problem

But why not give him a minimum contract just to keep him away from the heat I mean he can play in back up mins

I think this is the reason for the inquiry. But Hibbert has been in foul trouble a lot this year so its possible that he can help and he has a solid post game offensively so maybe Hibbert would get better practicing against him everyday instead of Ian.

Even if he could just come in an rebound that would be good it would be tough for Miami to stop that along with hibbert

Bynum played in 24 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, starting in 19 of those contests. He averaged 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, and showed at times the dominant big man that Cleveland was hoping he would return to being. There are character concerns with Bynum which has scared some teams away, but both the Rockets and Pacers have very steady locker rooms that could help him focus on the court and playing a solid role for a contending team.

The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers are two other teams that have considered signing Andrew Bynum. Los Angeles appears to have decided to pass, and the Heat are reportedly not very interested in the baggage that Bynum could potentially bring to their franchise. Indiana seems to be the most lucrative fit for Bynum if he is looking to carve out good minutes on the bench and still contend for a title.

I think we're already in that elite tier of organizations/front offices and culture.

If he's coming here, it means he's agreed to be in his best behavior.

I guess we won't know till a team decides to sign him. I would welcome him in Indy as long as he doesn't destroy our locker room. But I think we have enough of a veteran presence in David and other guys where they wouldn't allow it to happen

I feel it's a very low risk, all reward move if we get him. West, Hibbert, Bird, and Vogel won't let him cause trouble, you can bank on that. If he gives us good back up big production off the bench then that's awesome, if not, it keeps him away from Miami.

Also, I'm all for signing him just to go goon mode and give Wade a JJ Barea elbow to the ribs and watch Wade act like he just got shot.

Not a huge Bynum fan but I do feel the front office, Vogel, and the players will not let him be the headcase that he is. I imagine him having the same treatment as Lance is having. Lance is still in many ways immature, but Bird and the team were able to make him enjoy growing up in the best way possible.

According to Wiretap Heat aren't interested in him. At this point, to me, that means we shouldn't be either.

Our interest should solely be a function of the Heat's interest. They could be feigning disinterest of course. The real question to me is why would we be scared of him? Even on the Heat? I see Bynum on the Heat as a net positive for Indy, given that he slows them down, weakens their great defense, and possibly disrupts chemistry.

IDK about Bynum 2-3 yrs ago he was a beast but I think he's lost a step and just isn't that good anymore, if he's healthy and not a head case I might give him a 10 day contract if he works out ok then maybe we could trade copeland for a 2nd round pick to a team that is under the cap and lighten up next seasons salaray's considering we have to sign Lance and if we want Danny back we'll have to give him some money also.

Reports say that the Heat aren't interested because they have Oden. I wouldn't mind the Pacers signing him. I don't think he's much of a gamble since we already have an established core of guys.

Here's the thing, maybe being on a keyed-in team like the Pacers could put Bynum in his place. On Philly and Cleveland, yeah, he was injured and didn't care and etc, but maybe realizing he could win another championship would get him working a bit.

Best case scenario, he comes in, fits well, is happy playing 18 mpg backing up Hibbert, and it gives the Pacers the ability to move Mahinmi - his contract gets in the way of re-signing Lance a bit.

a few months ago we all wrote that we'd like to see a third center on the team. Bynum could be that. however, I don't see how it helps all that much next year as if he shows anything at all, he'll want a bigger contract than Ian's.

That is what I was thinking sign Bynum to a 10 day give him a look, we have a roster spot so if he doesn't work out or shows bad attitude say buh bye big guy. We are gonna need to make some room on the salaray structure or end up paying some Luxury Tax.

Looks like Miami might go after Bynum now they can clear some cap space to sign him after the trade that they made today
