Biz had a DNP last night? Is he really in Clifford's doghourse for losing Amare Stoudemire a couple times the previous game?

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I think Clifford's rotations just plain suck. It doesn't seem like Biz is his kind of guy even though he makes the team better on both sides of the floor by being able to defend, block shots, rebound, run the floor, and set the best screens in the league. Oh but gee golly gee, he doesn't have an endless repertoire of spinning push shots and traveling immunity.

Most big men with Biyombo's skill sets usually don't thrive until around their mid-20's (i.e. Larry Sanders @ 24, Ben Wallace @ 26, and Theo Ratliff @ 25). Biyombo is 21 years old

Meanwhile Alexander the Len averages 1.6 and 2.4 in 6.5 minutes per.

Somebody should start a Twitter war with Bonnell about Len's dismal numbers as a rookie. I would like to read his defense/excuses

I think Biz could be a better shotblocker than each of those guys you named. I don't understand how Clifford values defense but don't respect what Biz bring to the game. It's also unfair to Biz that he always have to play with Sessions. Everything get ugly and look bad when Sessions is in the game. If Sessions isn't making layups then it's all hell. The other team is scoring in transition from his ill advised shots.

I think Biyombo falls some place in between a Ben Wallace & Theo Ratliff comparison. Biyombo has a little bit of the strengths & weaknesses of both players, and similar production to their earlier years at a younger age

You realize Theo Ratliff averaged 4 blocks per game in multiple seasons right? I like Biz and think he could be a 3bpg player at his best, but Biz isn't going to average 4bpg ever. However, I think he'll be a better all-around player than Ratliff with the right coaching.

As a Sixers fan who loved Theo Ratliff dearly during his prime, he sufficed a lot of rebounding to block as many shots as he did, and I wouldn't recommend Biyombo to do that if he want to be the best player that he can be. Biyombo is as good (or elite) of a rim protector as MKG is a perimeter defender. That's how I see it

Not yet. Biyombo has the POTENTIAL to be an elite rim protector. He definitely isn't there yet.mrknowitall215 wrote:Biyombo is as good (or elite) of a rim protector as MKG is a perimeter defender. That's how I see it

All you have to do is review the 'shots at the rim' defensed statistics that 'LamarMatic7' posted
From Biyombo's rookie season until now, only a handful of players that average over 20 minutes per game has had a higher block percentage. As a shot blocker, Biyombo is in exclusive company, only including Serge Ibaka, Larry Sanders, Javale McGee, Roy Hibbert, and Anthony Davis. That's pretty close to elite rim protection

I doubt we regret having a backup center for 4m.
He gets paid about what Joel Anthony does.
I honestly believe that if we were going to trade Biyombo, we would have by now and his potential is evident imo.

Bonnell can suck it after watching Biz's 2nd quarter. He did more in a handful of minutes than Alex Len has done his entire career.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Biyombo's in his third season and people are still talking about what is going to be or the player he might become. I'm a big fan of Biyombo and have been rooting for him but the writing is on the wall here. He's never going to be more than a role player off the bench. Nothing about his game has improved appreciably from where he was when he entered the league except for his shooting which has improved some this year (but only because he takes virtually nothing other than dunks and putbacks). Its time to talk more about what Biyombo is not what is might become.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I still believe that Bismack Biyombo could be a NBA All-Defensive team nominee if Charlotte started him alongside Al Jefferson, and replaced Jerome McKinley Henderson Jr. with a competent 3-point shooting SG in the starting lineup. The winning would mask a lot of Biyombo's flaws offensively and inflate his defensive strengths. Biyombo already is one of the best rim protectors in the league at 21 years old, and will only improve barring injury. I don't understand how the team could be so blind to what he could be unless they are taking a extremely patient approach of trying to decrease his value on the market as a RFA so they can retain him relatively cheap

if he would get more scoring opportunities i think Biz can easily average a low-end double double if he gets the minutes

Given Kemba and Al as starters ... You can't have Gerald, MKG, & Biyombo all on the floor at the same time with them. Clifford has chosen to start Gerald & MKG over Biyombo and that's that for now.
The real issue here is roster construction.
