Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project - Discussion Th
A lot of people have certain aspects of their team that are just ridiculous. Certain things just stand out for every single team here. But I'm just going to single out batmana's team for a second and point out his Shaq/Mason/Oakley frontcourt. Talk about physicality. You've surrounded the most intimidating big man in NBA history with two all-time tough enforcers.
I don't think that it's necessarily the best frontcourt in this project, but just imagining the raw strength of such a frontcourt is pretty crazy.

I have to tell you that initially I imagined another PF next to Shaq. He is much better offensively than both Mason and Oakley but not quite the rebounder or defender that either of them was. This guy is a 2-time All-Star and is still available, and even though he played more minutes at center, I would probably not consider him for Shaq's backup since I have a different idea there (I think you'll see what I have in mind).
Once I came up with the idea of having both Mason and Oakley, I was pretty much set for it, and I only considered one guy as a replacement for Oakley in case somebody took him before my pick (I won't say which guy that is though).
I noticed that Notanoob has both Artest and Rodman which is crazy but I must say Artest suffers a bit from not being eligible during his absolute defensive peak. Basically you have to take his Lakers years when he was already slowed down.

I do also get his year with Houston, so he was at least still 29 at the time. It's a shame that I couldn't take his defensive peak, but I was running out of players who I knew who I felt comfortable picking.batmana wrote:I noticed that Notanoob has both Artest and Rodman which is crazy but I must say Artest suffers a bit from not being eligible during his absolute defensive peak. Your starting center was parking in crip spots while he was in the league.

1.The bonafide superstar
2.The last true stretch 4 available, who brought a lot of other things to the table.
3.The super tough rebounder who also had an ok post game pretty good mid range shot
4.The super skilled and super underrated offensive savant
5.The super athlete who was unstoppable in transition and a great FT shooter
Clifford Robinson

Yea, I don't get Oakley and Mason with Shaq. I do think it's nice to have a "power" forward like Oakley who can be an enforcer, but who's getting away with a forearm shot to a guy jumping in the lane now-a-days. Shaq doesn't give up and-1's anyways. I have no idea what's going on with dhodgkin's team. Surprised at the run of nice passing centers who give some offensive value but not much defensively.

Your only issue is shot creation on the perimeter. Payton is decent offensively but he's no Paul, Nash or Magic.
But with Sidney and Hornacek you'll be ok I guess. I'm sure your offense will be more post-up based anyway, so with the passing of Duncan, Marc and Sampson you can run backdoor plays for slashers.
Your problem playing me will not be scoring the ball, but trying to prevent my guys from breaking the three-point record before half-time

There's a PG remaining who I'm interested in seeing whether he'll be taken or not.
He's not the biggest of names but his numbers were absurd and he was insanely versatile in the ways he could impact the game. The only issue was his ball dominance which may be a turnoff at this stage.

Sidney and Payton will get the better of Nash on both ends of the floor. I love Sampson guarding Dirk. But the worst is Glen Rice trying to guard Cornbread. Oh lord what a mismatch that is.

I wanted Ron Artest when he was actually Ron Artest, not Metta World Peace, but the Malice in the Palace made him ineligible

Draft's slowed down. I expected it to wrap up by tmrw, doubt that happens now. Most teams are fully formed now tho, so that's good.

You seem to be forgetting that Nash is not an iso-player. The man defense of your guards can be negated by a simple screen. This is not Laker Nash who can't take advantage of an opening before the screener slips. One screen and boom, I've got Nash in the paint with Dirk either rolling to the basket (where he was 69% in 2011) or sliding back to mid-range (where he shot 52%). If one of your other guys comes to help, you'll be leaving Rice (45% 3-point shooter) open, or Dumars (late 30s-early 40s). Hell, Nash shot 56% from 2 point range in 2007, he's very adept at just pulling up himself if he gets the slightest opening.
You have great defensive big men but none of them are fast enough to combat the screening game that Nash thrives in.
