Pistons fan blasphemy! Make offer for Andre.

Post#1 » by coolness » Sun Jan 19, 2014 5:21 am

What could Detroit get for Andre Drummond?
12.67 ppg 12.67 rbg 1.85 bpg 1.38 spg .597 fpg 32.6 mpg turned 20 last August

Rules. Not that you have to follow them.
1. No Eastern Conference team getting Drummond. That is way too much scary.
2. good small forward coming back.
3. good back-up center coming back.
4. picks coming back.
5. you are the one taking bad contracts if any.

One I thought of close to a Monroe fanboy trade (make it Drummond and have Den pay more)

Drummond
Will Bynum (decent but we don't need him)
Jonas Jerebko (technically can help you but doesn't help us)
Tony Mitchell (technically has potential, doubt he would realize it in Detroit)

for

Wilson Chandler
Timofey Mozgov
1st of 2014 (better of Den and NY picks)
1st of 2016 (better of Den and NY picks)
1st of 2018 (Denver's unconditional)
Two 2nd's of 2014 (Den and Por)
2nd of 2016
2nd of 2017
2nd of 2019
2nd of 2020

Honestly I still think Denver could be winning this trade. It's a lot to process and I'm drinking.

Just for fun I hope you make an offer for Awesome Andre. It would be crazy if that is the best thing for the Pistons. Moose and Smoove are frustrating but good. What if the Pistons just need to trade Andre?

Feels like a trap just so you can say "no way dre is worth so much more! you suck"

Of course he is not available and shouldn't be.

Might make some sense to sell him at possibly his highest value with his contract. Monroe is best at C and Smith at PF.

Jennings l Siva
KCP l Billups
Singler l Datome
Smith l Mitchell
Monroe l Harrelson

Seems like the core to add to.

Hmm...
Not many teams in the West are tanking..which is pretty much what you are looking for.

The Denver deal is kind of interesting.

Drummond
Expiring (CV and Stuck)
Jerebko

For

High end wing player(s)
Back up big men
Picks

Will get back to this...

As a Wizards fan, I'd give you Beal, Porter, and Gortat.

Det out: Andre, KCP, Charlie V, Stuckey

Min out: Kevin Love, Kevin Martian, G. Deng

Pistons:

Jennings
K Martian
J Smith
K Love
G Monroe

Why: They become instant contenders. What they have with Drummonds potential is enviable but the roster is a mess. It isn't clear how they are going to get enough shooting to space the floor and this trade solves that.

Wolves:

Rubio
KCP
Luc Mbah a Moute
A Drummond
Pek

Why: They get a proven talent in A Drummond, and they get a guy they liked in the draft in KCP. The roster lacks shooting and might be headed for a top pick this year, but they get younger without seeing a big talent drop off. They clear cap room for next year by getting out of loves huge deal. They end up with a lot of options for how to improve their team going forward and have the pieces to be a contender soon.

I think you mean kcp. It's Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. If KPC is a nickname of his for some reason, then my bad.

It's just for fun. Yes, Dre is worth a ton, but I'm a Pistons fan and have no right to brag about anything related to the Pistons. As somebody just said on our board, we might have the worst season of any team by finishing well below .500 AND losing our pick AND not having roster fit or flexibility AND seeing key players leave in time. We flat-out suck. Maybe I just wanted to feel good by seeing big offers for Andre. I doubt I agree with too many of them, but oh well.

Don't think it would be enough value going back to the Pistons, even though I think the fit would be great for them. Also, I don't think the Blazers would consider it due to not wanting to mess with a good thing and the great team chemistry they have, but what about something BASED around the following:

Pistons give: Drummond, CV, Jerebko
get: Batum, Robin Lopez, 1st/s??

Monroe/R.Lopez
Josh Smith/Harrellson
Batum/Singler/Datome
KCP/Stuckey
Jennings/W.Bynum/Billups

Blazers give: Batum, Robin Lopez, McCollum, Leonard, Claver
get: Drummond, Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes, CV (EC)

Drummond/Hawes
Aldridge/Freeland/T.Rob
E.Turner/D.Wright
Wes/Crabbe, Barton or FA
Lillard/Mo/Watson

76ers give: Turner, Hawes
Receive: McCollum, M. Leonard, Jerebko, Claver, $2.8 million TPE

If the Blazers could pull that off they would likely have max money to throw at a FA and/or would be able to re-sign both Turner & Hawes if they work out as intended.

I think Love going to Detroit or to a 3rd team would likely be the best bet to get max value here.
Minnesota could easily do a Pek/Milsap swap IMHO, as he's perfect next to Horford defensively and they'd be a menace in the paint on offense (always have 1 in).

Seems like the type of trade Minnesota would be willing to kick a little extra in for. Ideally, I'd love to pair Drummond with Love though. Pek (Locked up) + Rubio + ??? for Drummond + ???

FWIW, I would want Love going to a 3rd team, because we are apparently stuck with Josh Smith.

Our current fit is TURRIBLE. I had a random thought that if we split the Pistons into 2 rosters (round each out with D-Leaguers) that either would perform just as well as this current group of buttholes. The team without Mo Cheeks would do a little better though.

Suns trade Len, Goodwin, WAS 1st, IND 1st, PHX 1st for Drummond, Copeland
Indy trades Granger, Copeland for Villanueva, Stuckey
DET trades Drummond, Villanueva, Stuckey for Granger, Len, Goodwin, 3 1sts

I would trade Bledsoe for Drummond if I knew the suns had Stephenson coming in fa in advance If not we could only offer u picks but that would be stupid

I don't understand the incentive for Indy. Granger might be a hero in the playoffs. Stuckey could too, but I'm leaning towards Granger. Villanueva is just an expiring.

And why are you holding out on that Minny 1st? I don't intend to nitpick this thread. It's just fun for me to read, but I wanted to pipe in this time. I think something with just Det/Pho could be more interesting. And part of it is that I'm not interested in Goodwin, but that's just me. But thanks for playing along.

If you can get that, minus about 2 of those pichs, while dumping scraps.... DO IT.. Ultimately... Detroit is better with Monroe and Smith in the roles they actually PLAY well...plus The pistons get useful players, rd 1 and may rd 2 picks.

As good as Drummond has been, I wouldn't bet the field on him. He's not enough of an offensive threat and his lack of free throw shooting capability obviously scares me. Sure, it wasn't a problem for Shaq, but Shaq was arguably the most dominant offensive force the game has EVER seen. Drummond has a long way to go before he becomes anything like that on offense, and until we see improvement in that regard, I think it's safe to say that he's not worth the price the Pistons would obviously demand for him. If Goodwin doesn't excite you, we could sub in a future pick. I just don't feel comfortable giving up all our picks this year along with all our prospects from last year for a guy we can't depend on offensively. Also, it's good for Indy because they move on completely from Granger, get rid of Copeland at the same time, while getting Stuckey to be the x-factor for the playoffs. At least Stuckey has proven to be able to produce all season long, it's been almost 2 seasons since Granger has done anything of value on the court.

Okay...forget Indy...they get hosed and they are near the top for a reason (they don't get hosed)

If...you can get that much from the Suns...pretty solid.

I'm a suns fan and IMO that won't be enough for Drummond the player he can be with more experience is pretty high.
