Sometimes when I think about our team's finances I just want to bash my head into a wall.

Why in God's name are we paying 13M to Jerebko, Datome, Billups, and Bynum to do NOTHING??

We could overpay two bench players at 7M instead of carrying those 4 bums around.

Oh wait that's right we already are overpaying two bench players 8M each for Charlie V and Stuckey.

I hate Joe Dumars' guts.

You guys really proposing trades that brings back Gerald Wallace? Talk about desperate...

I don't get all the hate for Smith, I really don't...besides him being another scapegoat for this franchise. Smith has outplayed Monroe, Monroe has been outplayed and overshadowed by Drummond since Drummond has shown up, Monroe is going to cost way too much to re-sign most likely, and the dude is soft as toilet tissue. I like the guy but it's obvious the team would go the further moving him and it makes the most sense. Hopefully it's obvious to Dumars too....

Monroe for Green and another piece would be alright...Green is fit more to play small forward offensively then Smith is. I would prefer better shooters personally, but I think only Orlando can really help us out there giving us Afflalo. If we were somehow able to pull off a small deal like Bynum for Fredette, that would freakin be huge too. We just need shooters man.

What about these two deals:

Jennings, Smith, Datome
for
Lin, Asik, Aaron Brooks

Why for Houston? Turn Lin/Asik into Smith (Dwight's best friend) and Jennings while keeping Terrence Jones.
Why for Detroit? Start Lin, trade Asik (see below)
------------------------------------------------
Then:
Monroe, Stuckey, Bynum, Mitchell
for
Lee, Barnes, Nedovic

Why for Golden State? Turn Lee / Barnes into a franchise big in Monroe and 3 solid bench players for a title run.
Why for Detroit? Lee is a solid starter next to Drummond, Barnes slots right into the 3 spot
------------------------------------------------

Then we have to try to trade Asik. Ideally we look to absorb some salary but get a young player in return.
Some options include:
- Len+Okafor for Asik+Jerebko
- Thad Young + Richardson for Asik

Worst case scenario we start Asik but play Drummond starter minutes and let Andre finish games next to Lee while we keep Asik for a trade next year. We would have Lin, Jerebko, Asik all expiring next year.

Our lineup next season after we resign Brooks for cheap and Chauncey retires (hopefully):
Lin / Brooks
KCP / Singler
Barnes / Jerebko
Lee / Harrelson
Drummond

+ Asik / whoever we trade him for

What is this thread for, 2k fantasy type trade ideas or realistic trade ideas? Because seriously, when has Dumars ever dealt 7+ guys in season? Why would GS ever part with both Lee and Barnes, for someone that's struggling this season? Great 2k stuff though, buddy.

This is the perfect to trade for Kwahi Leonard and Danny Green. They both haven't made that jump that many analysts predicted and if we trade Monroe and Stuckey for Leonard and Green, it would made the Pistons one hell of a defensive unit.

I really don't see the Spurs making such a deal when they are playing great, I would like to trade Monroe for Leonard though.

Or, we could just trade for LeBron. Either one works...

Many trades on here for monroe don't even equal half his value.

Rondo is supposedly going to get moved.

Monroe + Jennings + a future 1st and 2nd rounder for Rondo.

Boston has their young big man rotation of the future with sully, olynyk, and moose. They also have jeff green which rounds out a solid front line. They can tank this year and add another pick to their many in the future.

We become
Rondo
KCP
Singler
Smoove
Drummond.

Still in need of a solid sf , but we become more balanced and lock in a top 3 pg with a future top 3 center.

Monroe/Jennings for Rondo makes the most sense for us of any trade, however I worry that Boston sees it as us trying to dump our two biggest defensive liabilities on them for their best player.

In other words if Ainge sees us unable to win consistently with those two because of their defense, he probably is thinking why do I want that problem?

If we could get it done though somehow it would be awesome. Rondo would fit so perfect on this team defensively. With him and KCPs on-ball defense and Dre/Smith's shotblocking inside, not only would our defensive problems be solved, but we'd have one of the best in the league in my opinion.

Offensively we would be challenged with a lack of shooters, but you win with defense and I'll take a great defense + bad offense anyday over a good offense + terrible defense like we have now.

If Boston is going to move Rondo than we have to get him. We need defense and a KCP and Rondo backcourt should be a great defensive tandem. Of course don't give Ainge too much because he is probably going to try and sell high.

Ainge will take Jennings to command the tank. Moose is a serviceable defender, especially at center which he would play at Boston.

Its a pipe dream though because dumars sucks (killed mooses value because teams know we have to unload him) and ainge will ask for more, maybe 2 1sts if not 3.

New report says Rondo expected to be traded. Lists Houston and Phoenix as potential suitors, though I don't see what either of those teams have to offer thats better than Monroe.

It sounds like Boston is looking to get #1 picks for him. Though it also says they already have 17 picks stockpiled over the next 5 years. You would think they are set in the draft department and would be better off getting an established young big man to rebuild around, and then use all those picks to build around him. Not saying Monroe is that kind of franchise player, but you need to have at least 1 legit established player in place already, than just have nothing but rookie draft picks, and finding that Center is the hardest position to fill.

Maybe if they don't want Jennings with him, we could move BJ to another team in a 3 way deal for a late 1st round pick, and then ship Monroe + #1 pick to Boston for Rondo.

No bad team is going to give up a lotto pick for Jennings, but a contender would probably be interested in acquiring him for a late 1st. He is top 5 in assists after all, and on a very friendly contract.

I'd do that deal.

I don't think Moose for Rondo is realistic for Boston to do and I'm hesitant to give up another pick. That's the Knicks model IMO. We would also still need a SF and our shooting would be even worse than it was. Rondo and Green would be sick though.

I think our shooting would be better. Seeing as Jennings shooting is a negative anyways and at least Rondo could finish at the rim better. Plus inserting Singler in the starting lineup would help the 3 point shooting. We would definatley be better on both sides of the ball.

Question, what good would Rondo alone really do for this team? We'd get worse at shooting and with the way point guards are falling to knee injuries nowadays, its quite the risk. I could see if Green came back too but alone, does it make much sense?

Or are you guys thinking Rondo plus add on during the off season?

I got a Rondo trade that works in the trade machine and may be a win for all sides.

Pistons

In: Rondo & Jared Dudley
Out: Monroe & Jennings

Boston

In: Monroe & 2014 1st rd pick + Willie Green & Reggie Bullock (2m of cap filler)
Out: Rondo

LAC

In: Jennings
Out: 2014 1st rd pick, Dudley, Green/Bullock

Celtics end up with Monroe and a #1 pick for Rondo. Pistons end up with Rondo and a serviceable starting SF who can shoot 3s in Dudley. LAC ends up with Jennings, who they could really use with their backcourt injuries, and only have to give up some role players and a late 1st rd pick to get him.

I think Jennings would thrive in the west where his defense would be less of an issue and he can play a more open court game. Plus he would get to go home to LA, Rondo would get to play with Smith here, and Monroe would get to go back to playing his natural position & play for a great franchise in Boston.

Pistons become:

Rondo
KCP
Dudley
Smith
Drummond

Return to Detroit Pistons
