Your only issue is shot creation on the perimeter. Payton is decent offensively but he's no Paul, Nash or Magic.

But with Sidney and Hornacek you'll be ok I guess. I'm sure your offense will be more post-up based anyway, so with the passing of Duncan, Marc and Sampson you can run backdoor plays for slashers.

Your problem playing me will not be scoring the ball, but trying to prevent my guys from breaking the three-point record before half-time 8-)

Sidney and Payton will get the better of Nash on both ends of the floor. I love Sampson guarding Dirk. But the worst is Glen Rice trying to guard Cornbread. Oh lord what a mismatch that is.

You seem to be forgetting that Nash is not an iso-player. The man defense of your guards can be negated by a simple screen. This is not Laker Nash who can't take advantage of an opening before the screener slips. One screen and boom, I've got Nash in the paint with Dirk either rolling to the basket (where he was 69% in 2011) or sliding back to mid-range (where he shot 52%). If one of your other guys comes to help, you'll be leaving Rice (45% 3-point shooter) open, or Dumars (late 30s-early 40s). Hell, Nash shot 56% from 2 point range in 2007, he's very adept at just pulling up himself if he gets the slightest opening.

You have great defensive big men but none of them are fast enough to combat the screening game that Nash thrives in.

GP and Moncrief can harass Nash down the court and mercilessly beat Nash up in the post on the other end

They're not beating anyone up with the current rules. I see them staying in front of Nash, but we'll be seeing lots of screesn & PnR/P with a lot of these teams.

It's a major reason why I focused a lot on a team that is good in the half court offense. With Kareem, I can feint low post scoring to get open looks else where. Or have Porter run a half court set or be used more similarly like Lillard or Parker. I just need guys to be at certain spots on the floor while at the same time being good enough defensively. And if plays break down due to good defense, well, you're going to need a guy who can create his shot or be a play makers to create an opening for his teammate.

With some of these defense heavy teams, I'll probably end up using Brand instead of Nance for added rebounding to catch all their bricks.

im surprised no one has taken that one crazy point guard. He peaked higher than some of the point guards taken in this draft. I wanted to pick that guy but he was too ball dominant and didnt fit on my roster

Why? Do the rules prohibit posting up?

Will they be posting up every play? If you want your offense to be solely GP out of the post, then by all means.

john248 wrote:Yea, I don't get Oakley and Mason with Shaq. I do think it's nice to have a "power" forward like Oakley who can be an enforcer, but who's getting away with a forearm shot to a guy jumping in the lane now-a-days. Shaq doesn't give up and-1's anyways. I have no idea what's going on with dhodgkin's team. Surprised at the run of nice passing centers who give some offensive value but not much defensively.

Said "power" forward can play excellent post defense, rebound like a beast and a hard foul can still be delivered nowadays, albeit differently. I don't see a problem with fit in my frontcourt but let's leave convincing the judges for when the actual matchups start.

some of you have to understand that not saying a player's name but listing a bunch of their details isn't being sneaky at all. I really wish some people could use some restraint...

I don't know, looking at names, some of these rosters seem scary... I can't really assess my team in this field. I just hope I don't get heavily penalized because of my "old-school" selection.
PC Board All Time Fantasy Draft:

PG Mark Price (92-94)
SG Manu Ginobili (05-07)
SF Larry Bird (84-86)
PF Horace Grant (93-95)
C Dwight Howard (09-11)
+
Bernard King (82-84) Vlade Divac (95-97) Derek Harper (88-90) Dan Majerle (91-93) Josh Smith (10-12)

Honestly, I love your team dude, I actually expressed that earlier. I'm curious how you're going to use Bernard King if you have Bird as your starting SF though.

I don't think you're going too old-school.

Thunder Dan was a pretty good player, no doubt about that. Him, Brent Barry and Manu are probably the best white athletes I've ever seen in the NBA (since I've been personally watching basketball). Not including scrubs like Joe Alexander, Jon Brockman etc.

I'm thinking on this one. He automatically gets 10 minutes as Bird's sub, and then I'm trying to find the way to field a King-Bird forward duo for some minutes. I still need a 10th player.

calibullsfan beter hope that the judges are using skip bayless' way of evaluating players and factoring in the clutch gene :D

otherwise there were probably better candidates but c'est la vie.

Now that most of the teams are pretty complete, I'd say Narigo's got a scary bunch. He has pretty much everything that is needed to succeed, and he's got Michael freakin' Jordan on the top of that. :o He was also smart enough to put a wing player (Byron Scott) to pair with MJ in the backcourt as his point guard, rather than a true point guard...Oh, boy.

He can really play some triangle offense, having a great passer like Sikma as his center, and MJ/Marques/Scott on the wings. That's something that I wish I had.

John248 initially took other player, but eventually edited his post and went with Batum...Pretty interesting why he changed his mind so quickly.

My guy was a very skilled player, good defender, and an amazing hustler on the top of that. Darrell was an excellent athlete with MAJOR hops. He even participated in the 1996 Slam Dunk Contest. Unfortunately, he didn't make any of his attempts and he was so sad and angry because of it that he actually cried during a phone call to his mother, shortly afterward. Talk about love for the game...
