A successful trade deadline is one that decisively makes us a top 6 team in the East or a bottom 5 team in the East. One way or another we HAVE to decide on a direction and soon. I'm less pro-tank than I was about three games ago, but less sold on this team than I was a few weeks ago. I have a bad feeling we'll be hanging around the 8th/9th seed the rest of the year if we don't make a move of some sort.

I think barring a significant injury to Kemba or Jefferson similar to MKG's hand fracture that kept him out over a month that Charlotte will finish the season as a 4-6 seed in the Eastern Conference. I expect Atlanta (sans Al Horford), Chicago (sans Luol Deng), Washington, & Detroit all will have some dropoff of consequence as the season goes along similar to the losing streaks that the Bobcats have experienced in over the past month or so

I think we'll be the 9 seed and get the 9th pick, Brooklyn and New York will make the playoffs

I still think we end up with about the #7 pick, Cleveland, New York and Brooklyn will make the playoffs ahead of us imo.

A few of the WC teams could still improve their records beyond ours.

I concur on the 7th pick. I think Henderson needs to be dealt to secure a lottery position. He's producing nearly 16 PPG and I think if you put in a young guard who's learning you could develop an asset for the future but lose now when it counts. So I'm hoping the bobcats will be sellers but be smart about it. Kemba, Big Al and MKG all fit better than Henderson does. I still can't find a match for him.

No team in the NBA covets Henderson's ability as a player, so there's very little chance that the Bobcats can be sellers at the trade deadline unless they are planning on trading Kemba or Jefferson, the only two certified above average players on the roster

Well this is bad news, I really want to dump Henderson like a ho.

Time to watch Oklahoma State vs Kansas.

Ton of talent on the court right there.

With Walker probably going to be out 14 games or so this thread takes a whole other meaning. Time to really start scouting Exum, Aaron Gordon, etc.

if we lose 8 out of our next 10 games (very possible with the schedule) we would have a 36% winning percentage which would be around the 5th pick

We entered the season with hopes for 3 lottery picks but now we're in line to have the 16th-17th pick plus a virtually useless late late first.

You couldn't have painted a worse scenario so far. There's still time but I don't like this.

Well we just knocked DET into that dreaded 11 slot which is good for us and bad for the Bulls. We need the Cavs and Knicks to start playing better basketball.

2015 Picks Watch
If our pick coneys to CHI this year that means we have DET & POR picks this year and our own pick next year?
But if we keep our pick this year we will have no first round picks next year?

Pick 11 as is currently could net us the likes of Hood, Selden, Young, McDermott etc.

Definitely a valuable pick.

Our pick is top 8 protected in 2015, so if we keep our pick this year we will have to suck harder (not likely) to keep it next year. It's completely unprotected in 2016.

Okay, thanks. Just wondering if its worth "trying" to ensure the team has a pick this year and next, rather than three this year and none next.

I suppose, also, if our pick conveys to CHI this year it'll be pretty decent for them, whereas next year we could really stick it to them by improving the way POR did to us.

Pretty sure all of our 2nds belong to us also, so even if we convey our pick to Chicago next year and Detroit and Portland convey theirs to us this year we will still have a pick in the 2nd round.

IMO, best case scenario is to maximize the position of our pick this year (top 5 hopefully) and combine the Por. and Det. picks to move up into the top 10 to get a Lavine so we can get a starting worthy SG and PF. Maybe make a big FA splash and just plan on making the playoffs in the Hornets first year and screw Chicago on that pick. 2015 will be full of bigs but we won't need any anyway if we keep Jefferson, Biz, Zeller, and hopefully Julius Randle (plus future FA (Mcbob, Adrien, Tolliver, etc)).

we owe a 2nd round pick to San Antonio in 2016, but that is 2 years away so it doesn't really matter right now or next year

It seems that Brooklyn has turned their season around, that is good it will keep us at the 8 seed for a while if we keep winning, we just need some of the other East teams (NYK,BOS,CLE,DET) to start winning now or we go on a massive losing streak preferably both lol and also a Western team to win some more (NO,SAC,LAL)
