Faried is a problem, a big problem for us.

Why is Faried a big problem? He was great as a role player to grab rebounds last season. You wait for Gallo and JaVale to get back and slip Faried back into his rebounding role.

Then develop Faried as he should be developed instead of throwing him under the bus.

Of course Faried is a problem, he is having his minutes jerked around, being asked to fill a role that comes nowhere close to fitting his game, and than being made the scape goat. Much like Fournier earlier this season, if you are being asked to totally change what got you to the NBA, then you are going to struggle.

Faried is a guy that has to be allowed to roam a little on defense, he has to get rebounds and create chaos, cutting off lanes and such, he does not have the size to really stop the decent offensive bigs, he is also not a guy that is going to be effective standing 18 feet from the basket and trying to be effective on the occasional cut when the other teams are packing the paint and waiting for him.

Change that to Faried and hickson at the same time is a problem. Horrible defense almost a joke were not gonna win anything giving up 110 plus a game. I dont feel like mozzy starting really solves the problem as he is obviously a back up big.

i think Hickson is better defender than Faried, because he is stronger at low post and giving defensive helps.

As always, you need to be concentrated in the defensive end, and Faried doesn't seems to be here

Every measurement of defense out there says different.

What exactly are you supposed to decipher from still photos? Especially when it shows nothing about the actual play at completion.

although we can go over them. The 1st one Faried appears to not be far enough out to hedge. The last 2 sets show worse for Hickson than Faried, namely sticking his hand out instead of actually stepping out on the hedge for the pick and roll while Faried followed his assignment of picking up the roll man. The 2 one is even a worse example, Hickson and Robinson got split by the ball handler, Faried is in position just outside of the circle as the last line of defense on a drive.

Also I have watched them both extensivly, neither is good, but Hickson is the worse defender.
These two links show that the Nuggets defense is 7.4 points per 100 possessions worse with Hickson on the court than without him, and with Faried on the court the Nuggets defense is 6.5 points points per 100 possessions worse with Faried on the floor.

Here is another link showing net plus minus for the entire team, notice who is the worst on the team?

I don't see the point in arguing who's better defensively between Faried and Hickson. They're both clearly awful and the fact that at least one of them is basically on the floor at all times creates a huge disadvantage.

If you watch any of the locker room interviews in the post game shows, the players say the exact same thing after every loss. "It all starts on defense, we need to focus more on defense in practice, we'll never be successful if our defense doesn't improve, etc, etc". But considering the personnel of this roster, I really can't see it improving any time soon.

His slow reaction because lack of concentration
