Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo

I don't know how credible this source is and to be honest this article sounds more like speculation but if we traded the right players, I'd do it. I've never been a Rondo fan but he'd be an upgrade over Jennings.

KCP
Smith
Drummond

This was derived from some Detroit Free Press article that was nothing but complete and utter speculation.

As a Magic fan I say yes (conditional). Conditional because Big Baby must be traded first or he'll take all the shots away from Monroe and b***h about pt.

Getting back Afflalo after what happened would be so rich that Dumars shouldn't be GM anymore.

^According to that "article" Stuckey and CV would be traded for Afflalo, not Monroe - Moose would be going to Boston, along with Jennings, for Rondo.

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
afflalo could play the SF better than KCP, would be rondo-kcp-afflalo-smith-drummond
undersized in the 3, but so much better than smith at SF, and with this lineup we can really run the court

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
Speaking of Boston, per HoopsHype, NBA.com is reporting the Celts might trade Jeff Green if they can attach Gerald Wallace to him. Anyone wanna do something based around Green & Wallace for Smith & CV's expiring? There've always been rumors about Smith & Rondo wanting to play together, plus there's wiggle room for other pieces to be added as well (for instance, we could include Singler or a similarly cheap prospect, or we could even absorb Brandon Bass, too, if they really want to dump salary). Just a thought; besides, who really knows how much truth there is to the NBA.com report (we are entering "rumor season" prior to the trade deadline now).

Why are people so high on green, the guy isnt going to magicly get better on this pistons squad,we need offense and he dosent provvide enough of that in my opinion from the 3.

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
I'm not high on Green either but I rather have him than Smith without a doubt. To do that trade I'd take one bad contract from them aswell. Smith makes sense for them too.

Honestly, in this case it's not so much being high on Green as it is being low on Smith.
That said, there's been a lot of clamoring on these boards for a "3&D" SF … well, that's pretty much Jeff Green to a tee. You're more than entitled to your opinion that he's simply not good enough, but I have to ask — if not Jeff Green, then who? Who's a better player, on a team-friendly contract (like Green), who might be available to fit that bill who's also the right age to fit with the rest of our core (Green is still only 27)?

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
This is my ideal trade. I've been wanting Dumars to make this trade for a while now. Problem is I can never guess Dumars moves so I don't know how likely these moves are. I support them 100% whether we get Afflalo or Green at SF. I believe Rondo can be a great PG here with Smith and Drummond. Two more shooters like KCP and Afflalo/Green, and this team can be very effective and push for a good position for the Playoffs. I just hope Dumars makes a trade soon. I don't know what he's waiting for. It's clear the Big 3 failed. I believe he's trying to see how Rondo plays first. Maybe Ainge is trying to see if he can get a better deal than what Dumars has offered. Everything is making sense right now as far as focusing on Rondo. But I'm really tired of waiting. I hope we see a move made soon.

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
There's no way in #$%^ you're getting Afflalo for that, and probably not Rondo for Monroe. Fantasy.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I think Smith, Jerebko and bynym for Green and Wallace would work.
Taking back Wallaces contract is pretty brutal, so swapping CVs expiring for jonas and bynums smaller deals is fair IMO.

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
It holds about as much weight as the numerous fans on these boards that speculate about hypothetical trades.
Obviously our team looks better with Rondo and Afflalo in the backcourt, but that doesn't mean its something that's possible.

Re: Pistons eyeing Rondo and Afflalo
To Orlando: Stuckey, Charlie V, KCP, Bynum, Siva, Datome
To Boston: Monroe, Jennings, Singler, Jerebko, Mitchell
To Detroit: Rondo, Afflalo, Green, Wallace, Nelson, Big Baby
Why for Orlando?
Dump AA for a cheap young replacement in KCP. Magic save 22M by dumping Nelson and Big Baby are taking shots away from their young players and minutes that could be going to younger cheaper replacements.
Why for Boston?
Get rid of Gerald Wallace's contract in exchange for 1 less year of Jerebko, Singler, Datome. Move Rondo and Green for a franchise C in Monroe and Jennings. If Boston signs Monroe for 14-15M they still will save 7-8M next season which they can use to sign Hayward!
Why for Detroit?
Great starting lineup with an awesome bench (excluding Chauncey of course). With that lineup plus the addition of a veteran SG, we can make a run for the 2nd round and possibly the Conference Finals.
Rondo / Nelson
Afflalo / Billups
Green / Wallace
Smith / Big Baby
Drummond / Harrelson
Only negative to this trade: Dumars keeps his job.

If you been lurking this board for awhile, they have been discussed ad naseum.hes a career 34% 3pt shooter and this season his at 36%,not exactly a 3&D guy,at least the 3 part.
