Hate to say it, but at this point any number of teams are probably going to come out of the woodwork in hopes to get Monroe at a discounted price given the state of the Pistons and the state of Monroe's contract situation.

I wouldn't get too excited.

I don't see much on the Wiz's roster that would be enticing outside of Bradley Beal. Even Washington's draft picks aren't going to look that great this year, definitely not lottery.

The Pistons are certainly a team to keep an eye on over the next month. Rival executives have said that there is “turmoil” within the organization and that they haven’t decided what to do as the deadline approaches.

The most interesting part in the article.

Its the sort of situation where a team thinks they might be able to add Monroe while keeping their current core in place. I certainly hope they aren't right.

The Wizards don't have much to offer that they'd be willing to deal.

Turmoil within an organization rarely leads to good deals, and teams are smelling blood in the water.

I assume Wiz would think they could get it via just a draft pick (15-18th range, I assume).

Also, they might try and frontload the hell out of a Monroe offer sheet to scare off the Pistons (even with our cap space).

Right now you're going to get pennies on the dollar on Monroe. And there's no deal you can likely make this season that will make the team significantly better this season AND be able to retain who you get in the deal (what's to stop a Rondo/Green/Chandler/etc. from bolting in a year and a half?).

You're better off believing this season is a lost cause and keeping Monroe even if he's getting a max deal. Because whoever wants him anyway understands it's going to take that type of a deal to retain him, and no one is going to trade anything significant for him if they don't plan to retain him (thus making any deal worse).

Wizards don't have their pick this year IIRC. So they have even less that I'd be interested in. Otto Porter isn't an alpha scorer, so he's not what we need in a deal that would see us move Monroe.

Sorry but there isn't anything on the wizards that I would be interested in giving up moose for.

Beal isn't very good, to be honest. The only benefit is that he's only in his second year so he could get better, but we're talking a shooting guard who's a career .508 TS% so far. That's troubling.

Monroe for Beal makes perfect sense to me for the Pistons sake. Depends how bad the Wizards want Monroe, whether or not they would be willing to do that deal. The fact is though, Monroe IS worth a lot - probably more than Beal. So the Wizards will have to give up something of value to get him.

For the Pistons, if they can get their perimeter scorer/shooter AND get him on a rookie deal, that would be fantastic. Then not only don't they have to pay Monroe this summer, but don't have to pay for that perimeter guy either. They would then have Stuckey/CVs 17 mil in capspace to spend on anything they need. Plus the upside to Beal is much greater than any of the other names around town like Green, Gordon, etc.

If they could get Rondo for Monroe, that would be great, but if that's not going to happen then this would be a wise deal to pursue.

It makes sense for both teams in my opinion. Them being perimeter heavy, us being big heavy, both young teams trying to get to that next level. A simple swap of secondary young talents (Drummond/Wall being primary for each) to balance both rosters seems like a match to me.

Even if Beal is not a star or anything, you at least get something of value for Monroe. Then you still have all that capspace to go after a more star caliber perimeter guy if need be in FA. I would much rather have Beal on a rookie contract this time next year than Monroe for 15 mil/yr.

Even if we swapped Monroe for Beal, this team is the exact same with the Josh/Jennings offense.

I really like and want Tyreke Evans....felt the same during the off season too. The Pelicans are shopping for bigs too...

Charlie V & Stuckey for Evans and Moose for Beal.....I want it!

Actually it'd be worst, because you'd be adding yet another high volume low percentage scorer. Right now, Beal is scoring 16.9 points on 16.0 FGA. Combined with Smith's 15.5 points on 15.0 FGA and Jenning's 16.4 points on 15.1 attempts and you might have the most inefficient offense in league history.
