Over .500, here we come
Doesn't get set up any better then this.
They bumped their head 3 times against getting over .500.
Now they have at home against Boston coming up to get there so looks like they can finally do it.
But then they have at PHX, UTAH, GS, LAC followed by at home against OKC, POR, SA
Going to be a challenge to stay there. Should tell a lot about how they are going to be this year. If they can win a few against this good teams, that will say a lot about them. Now is the time to shin. Its half way point.

Phx is a lot more mortal as of late. Utah is "beatable." GSW is the only one there that seems like a sure fire loss. Clips without CP3 should not be feared. One off night by Griffin and they're ****.

Looking ahead is about the dumbest thing this team should do. They aren't good enough to look ahead in the schedule because they are an inconsistent team that plays poorly at home. They need to play one game at a time, and try and develop some consistency in their play so that they minimize the letdown games.

well clearly none of us here are on the team, so we can at least extrapolate a little.
For the game at hand, Boston is a pretty match up for us. I suspect Sullinger won't go quite as HAM as he did as last time and Wall should be able to abuse a recovering Rondo a fair amount. BOS does play hard though, but so does PHIL.
I can't watch the games regularly anymore but just by checking the box scores and I can see we basically we made it not so awesome when Singleton and Porter checked in. For the life of me I don't understand why we don't send Porter to the game league. He NEEDS it. I wonder if Wiz management cut a deal with Porter's agent to not send him down :/ didn't they do that with Seraphin and Jan?

I guess what I'm saying is...what's the point? They could beat OKC at home, and then lose to Boston two days later. There's no guarantees with this team.

Que up another. Ryan Kelly is starting the get it going.
Len should start to ramp it up as well.
I would have been happy with any of Burke, CJM or Len. Len probably made the most sense.

Re: Over .500, here we come
Im 50/50. I thought Wall would go off this game and he started off that way but then went backwards. If he was great then I think it would carry over but he can be pretty streaky so I could see it carrying over in a negative way. MCW had a big game but Wall usually takes things like that personal and vows to play better D next game but he's going up against a guy who people think is the best in the East when healthy in Rondo and its his big brother UK alumn.
Hopefully Wall can out play him and Beal continue to play great. Even moreso I hope Rondo plays tomorrow against Miami and they sit him against us since its a b2b while he's just returning. That would be perfect. Either way, they gave us fits inside last time so I hope its not a repeat. I have a feeling that if we get over the hump then we will go on a run, even if they are road games

btw, our next game will be exactly half of the season so it would be great if we were 1 game over for the 1st half instead of one game under

Re: Over .500, here we come
A lot seems to be riding on Ves and Kevin because of the Nene situation. Right now, Nene has looked great. He is moving well up and down the floor. Hopefully they have found a program that is working for Nene. But 35 mins a game over several games is pushing it regarding Nene so we need these other two.
As I have said, Ves can score if they get him the ball in scoring positions. He isn't Kevin. He doesn't generate much offense on his own. But with the right passes, Ves can finish.

And this one was even more encouraging. Because he came from Beal. Beal has not looked to get Ves this kind of open look. Its usually Trevor A or Webster Wall or Nene. There is no reason Ves can't get 6-10 pts / 22min in momentum shifting ways.

Through in his improving defense, rebounds, steals and some blocks and I think he can do his job out there resting Nene and Gortat. You want more offense but more unsound decisions, you turn to Kevin.

Just when the 3rd place in the east thread has vanished from the frontpage, hands11 curses the team with this nonsense.

I was at the game Saturday and was pretty disappointed we weren't able to get over the .500 hump against a mediocre Detroit team. If we can't beat awful Boston at home then we're simply destined to finish 40-42.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

That's a really brutal stretch. If they're above .500 after the SA game, it'll say a lot about their progress.

There are good signs coming from Vesely and Veeny. Vesely's FG % in Nov - 46%, Dec - 52.2%, Jan - 64.7% and with higher volume. His to's have gone way down, and his blocks have increased significantly.
Seraphin's minutes have varied wildly, but his last 2 games that he played more than a minute were his 2 best of the season - and both excellent performances.
We still don't know what we'll get out of either from game to game, but now there's legitimate hope where there wasn't before, imo. Of course, we've been here before only to be let down.

Shouldn't this thread be titled "let's get greedy"? Or "harvest your nuts while you can"?

There was a point where everything Doug Collins said made me cringe. And people still insist he's a great analyst of the game. No, he's not. He's a master of making the obvious sound complicated.
