Yeah, Lee is cherry-picking.

If Philly makes the playoffs either this year or next year then Boston gets a first rounder. Given how weak the east is that isn't exactly far fetched.

It does make you wonder what Crawford is like in the locker room though.

I tend to think there's a solid chance of that being a mid-1st round pick in 2015. I could absolutely see the 76ers as a 7th or 8th seed next season.

If I'm reading it right, they're getting that pick and the 2nd round pick from Miami along with Anthony - in exchange for Toney Douglas and a trade exemption. So, they're getting the picks because they're saving Miami more than $10 million cash money dollars. Crawford is only indirectly a part of that.

Someone mentioned Ajkinca in another thread, and it got me thinking - What are the Pelicans doing with their bigs? They have 4 guys behind the great Anthony Davis and really good but injured Ryan Anderson. They have 2 very good backups in Ajinca and Withey, but they give more playing time to Stiemsmsmsmsma and Jason Smith. Steimsma and Smith have worse production and efficiency numbers AND worse +/- numbers than Ajinca and Withey - which indicates they undervalue their assets - and it's the right time for the Wiz to swoop in and steal Withey or Ajinca.

I'm jumping aboard the Withey bandwagon too. He looks like he's ready to step in and be a solid backup right now.

Weird update - The Bucks forum has a thread on the Pelicans trying to acquire Epke Udoh (for Austin Rivers). Why would NO want to add an ordinary big to their collection? Edit - Jason Smith is also injured.

Hey!,

I posted that EXACT same trade back in December:

Just about ANY player would be an upgrade over Rivers. Udoh isn't much, but he's better than Rivers.

LOL @ it somehow being "news" that the Kings haven't discussed an extension with Rudy Gay.

Seems like a double punch in the stomach that Utah beats us and in the same night claims Malcolm Thomas, the stretch 4 recently cut by San Antonio.

Agreed on all this. I think Stiemmsma is 3rd string by the end of the week. They are also idiots for playing Austin Rivers while Pierre Jackson rots away in the DLeague. The NBA will be more fun when Pierre gets unleashed

Yeah, we we could have snagged MT, but we had to keep roster spots for Maynor and Singleton :(

Going back and forth on this on the GB, if you were the Phoenix GM...would you be disappointed that you went from a team projected to lose 50+ games to now possibly making the playoffs but...

a) Lose out on a franchise changing player
b) You proved you were good enough to compete in the West but you're basically Denver lite, good enough to compete, but not good enough to push through the top 4-5 teams in West, i.e. you're basically going to tread water
c) Miss out on the playoffs b/c the West is so good, but won enough games that they're probably picking 12th or 13th in the draft b/c the East is so bad.

Heck no. The one think I'm mad about is that they picked Alex Len. I'm excited because we have the potential to build a champion because:
1. They can get their top talent - Eric Bledsoe - back next season (though it'll cost), and he can become a player to build around - not just build with, and
2. Even re-signing Bledsoe, they could sign a top free agent. And now that they've shown they're a well-run franchise, they can attract a top free agent.

As a Suns fan, I wouldn't lose sleep over missing out on a blue chipper. The Suns have 3 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder in a stacked draft. Even though they're missing out on the studs, they'll get upwards of 4 rock solid role players to couple with a 45-50 win team.

They could come away with Shabazz Napier, Jordan Adams, Zach Levine, and Adrian Payne. That's a better 2nd unit than the Wizards and all in just 1 draft.

Mix and match with Craft, Stauskas, Selden, Warren, Glen Robinson, Poythress, Patric Young, and Ike Austin as needed.

Nice. They can also move up - packaging Len and some picks. Wow, they're playing 3-D chess well.

You're thinking of quantity over quality, Parker looks like a franchise guy, someone you can build around. Can you build around those 3 guys you mentioned? Sure, they are nice, complimentary pieces, but other than that?

Well, for starters, I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to get one of the blue chippers. It's just that the alternative (quantity) helps make it more palatable. Plus, Parker looks like a Carmelo-type franchise guy or a Paul Pierce-type franchise guy. I wouldn't be too torn up on missing out on a guy like that if the compensation is 4 very good journeymen. If Parker was more comparable to someone like Durant, it'd be a much more different story. Lastly, the draft picks are meant to supplement an existing, winning core. Dragic/Bledsoe is looking to be a VERY good backcourt and Plumlee is pleasantly... serviceable.

Here's how a real GM thinks and talks: http://rockets.clutchfans.net/6068/dary ... k-rockets/

Daryl Morey has no problem admitting his mistakes -- he calls Royce White maybe the worst #1 pick in the history of the NBA! He points out -- on his own, no one bringing it up -- that he was foolish to give up a Round 1 pick in his deal for Terrence Williams.

He also has no trouble talking openly and analytically about his own upcoming choices: see his discussion of Chandler Parsons. And talks equally frankly about how to make deals at the deadline.

To quote queridiculo: "sigh." :)
