Well, this _is_ professional ball. If we have someone who can perform better (Mack), he's earned the minutes.

That's what I said when guys wanted to give the starting job to Schröder and that's still the way I feel. No one gets a starting job handed to him.

There are extremes to that though. Teague has played ranging from bad to OKAY in the last EIGHT games. You don't bench the clear starter who has given you 2 really good months of ball because he has been okay over the last 7 games.

He has gone 2/6 (with one turnover)
16/2(with 2 turnovers)
20/5(with FIVE turnovers)
7/4(with one turnovers)
15/6(with 3 turnovers)
16/5(with SEVEN! turnovers)
16/6(with 4 turnovers)
14/7(with 5 turnovers)

He hasn't shot well at all, but he has gotten to the line and shot well. His slump isn't even THAT bad, he just needs to cut down on the turnovers and stop settling for the 3(take away the three attempts and he is shooting a decent percentage).

I kinda just feel like a 7 game slump isn't enough to bench a guy.

If he's benched for the next few games, then I'll agree with you. However, if Budenholzer simply put Mack in for that one game because Teague was playing poorly and Mack was playing well, isn't that what a coach is supposed to do?

Oh, EXACTLY.

I thought I was getting a "mack needs to be starting" vibe going around here because he is playing better.

Great win by our Hawks.
I kept having the box score refresh at my job.

No, although I'm getting worried by his recent malaise. Either he's hurting or he needs a kick in the rear. I was really hoping he'd make the leap to the next level.

diesel50 is right about one thing: his poor play began when Horford went down.

Okay, reading the AJC, I see what his problem is. Read this:
“I was going to play tonight," Teague said. "The last game I didn’t come out with a lot of energy. I didn’t do anything. I wasn’t aggressive. I wasn’t myself. Tonight I was going to make an effort to go out there and be aggressive, be in attack mode, and go out the way I wanted to go out.”

If he can turn it on like that, his problem is he gave up when Horford got hurt.
