How about the fact that we're fans of a team that's <word I cant say> since the freaking Carter Administration? How about that. There's not a fan on this board that isn't die hard. If any fan in here was suspect in terms of loyalty, they wouldn't be a fan of the team in the first place. In what way exactly has this pile of manure with a wand of a franchise ever rewarded the loyalty of its long suffering fan base?

Incompetent management across multiple owners, multiple GM's, multiple coaches: Check

Innumerable moronic trades in which we've consistently gotten owned: Check

Horrendous draft day decisions year after year, decade after decade: Check

Hideous use of cap resources, amnesty provisions, and 2nd round picks: Check

Incompetent use of D League and refusal to own your own team: Check

Is there anything anyone on the planet could say that's more absurd than challenging the fandom of individuals that not only support a team with this miserable of a track record, but also, post daily/weekly/monthly/yearly about all things related to said team, knowing full well its run by incompetents with no interest save, preserving their job and paycheck (EG), and receipts (Leonsis), and housing players that know full well the team is a trash compactor designed to grind up NBA title dreams, and replace them with salary chasing, grab the next buck cynicism?

There are no fans on the planet more loyal than fans of this team, of the Cavs, hell of the Clippers pre-Paul/Blake.

If you're a fan of this team for more than 10 minutes you deserve a gold star, fan for years, for life? Nobody can impugn your devotion or loyalty, 10 posts, or 10,000,000.

Just Absurd.

HOF post.

I agree. HOF post.

Consiglieri expertly articulated the ineptitude of Wizards management and just how demoralized many long-term fans feel as a result.

I think we lost because (in order)
1 - The C's were flat out en fuego last night. Sullinger was hitting rainbows from the baseline with a hand in his face. Jeff Green's 3's. Pressey playing the game of his life.

2 - Wall underestimated Pressey. I said on page 1 or 2 that Wall was going to cruise and Wall thought so to. Then he ran into mighty mouse who singlehandedly took 6 points away from the Wiz in the last 4 mins of regulation. Two in particular was the strip from behind of what was sure to be a dunk and the other was the jump ball on Wall on a 2-on-1 fast break, then won the damned jump ball. Wall *should* have had dunks on all those points and put the game away but didn't.

3 - The shots we got at the end were by design. They doubled on Wall on the drive, stayed home on shooters, and left Nene for the jumper. We got that shot about 3-4 times at the end there and it's not by accident. We took the shot they wanted us to take instead of forcing the issue elsewhere: e.g. weave and heave with Webster/Ariza.

4- Beal got capped at 30 mins and didn't come back for OT.

Imagine what Brad Stevens could do with our roster. Imagine what he could do with Wall and Beal. There are a lot of coaches in basketball that are a lot better than Wittman and his staff. He's a big problem.

Seems to me that most of the talk about "getting over .500" has come from the fans and the media and not the players or the coaches. I think the whole idea has been blown out of proportion, especially since it's only midseason and there's plenty of time to reach that magical "over .500" standard. I went to the Dallas game when the Zards had a chance to get over .500. And I went to the Detroit game last Saturday when they had another chance to get over .500. They lost both games. And, guess what? It wasn't the end of the world---or the season.

It's been an interesting debate over who is or is not a "real fan." I've been hearing two extremes. Those that have been negative about the team have been labeled "not real fans" by some posters, and those that have posted positive things about the team have been called "trolls" by some of you. Both extremes are wrong.

I missed the entire game. I saw the scoreboard late last night and didn't even bother to check in with the board. It's amazing how much happier I am as a result.

Being a Wizards fan really does suck. It's starting to dawn on me that I would be a happier person if my allegiances were elsewhere.

I appreciate the range of views and generally very high signal to noise ratio on this forum. Even when I'm not posting much it's worthwhile to read. It's still surprising to me that a franchise with the track record of this one attracts this level of passion and intelligent discussion.

I try to be positive, but it's tough sometimes. Okay, most of the time.

Frustrating game. It's amazing how often we make scrubs look like stars. And Wittman is an awful coach. The best you can do is 18 foot jumpers with Nene in those late game situations?

We are destined to finish 40-42. Such a shame. I think with a better coach we could win 47+ easy.

That's my gripe. We're likely a playoff team either way but instead of going in with momentum as a team and a fanbase that's getting behind the team, we're stuck backing in via medicority. If the goal is to get in, get in as the 3 seed; don't settle for just getting in. With how bad the east is the whole "have to learn how to stand before you walk" mentality is inapplicable.

It is a pretty incredible range. Some posters see perpetually blue skies and the bright side of virtually every game, roster move, announcement, etc. Some posters see anything short of a sustainable championship level team as utter failure. Some are in the middle, and some of us just bounce around, looking for a comfortable corner to watch the game and gush or bitch.

Being a (very distant) secondary Knicks and Sixers fan, I've visited their boards. Yikes! That wouldn't do at all.

It's not that we are "backing in" via mediocrity. Most teams have to become mediocre before they become good. The reason why I have no enthusiasm is that I know that this improvement to mediocrity is based on a foundation of sand. If we were like Phoenix or Toronto, becoming mediocre on the strength of young players on rookie deals, then I'd be kind of excited. But we are mediocre with a team heavily dependent on overpaid, over-the-hill vets, and mortgaged future picks. There is no reason whatsoever to ever expect the next level of improvement from mediocre to good.

^I see what you're saying to some extent Nate but Phoenix is 24-17, not 20-21. If the Wizards were 24-17 with an exciting young coach and cap space to go after a Monroe or maybe trade for a young player on a long-term deal to compliment Wall/Beal, I think there would be more excitement. With Bledsoe out Phoenix is not more talented, but they have a roster that enables them to play a style that compliments what they do have and a coach that is willing to play to their strengths and has them prepared nightly. 24-17, even with some aging players to me = seiging an opportunity...What we're doing now, relying so much on vets and an 8 man rotation just to manage near .500 is backing in. Guys on the bench aren't even that enthusiastic because they don't know if they're playing nightly even if they've been performing well. There is no logical reason to support Wittman playing kevin 7 minutes last night. He's been playing well recently, got off to a decent start, and had a strong game versus Boston last month. Sullinger was tossing his weight around....Kevin could have helped

As PIF would say, none of us has a crystal ball. As hands would say, we will see what we will see. As montestewart would say, who can predict the future, but I have a hard time seeing a bright Wizards future with EG waving the wand. At almost any given point (like, at the trade deadline) choices could be made, by EG or his replacement, that would probably make me feel better about the future. I'm not holding my breath.

Wittman's current career winning percentage as a head coach is .349. Wittman began the year ranked 9th in the league with career games coached. By the end of this year, he'll have 520. For him to get to .400 by the end of the year, he'll need to win all 41 remaining games.

Consquently, when you discount all of the coaches that are currently in their first year, Wittman is one of only two coaches in the league that has a career percentage below .400. The other being Jacque Vaughn, who coached Orlando to 20-62 last season, his first.

Randy is the weakest coach in the league.

No question -- HOF post for Consiglieri. Sadly, no mention of the transition from one of the better franchise names in the league to possibly the worst name and unis! We're #30!
