Is it not possible that Izturis could put up better numbers than Goins? I know Izturis wasn't great but he could bounce back, you never know.

He could easily be better with the stick. The problem with Maicer was how absolutely terrible he was in the field. I have no idea what that was about or if it will be fixed, but if he plays D the way he did before he doesn't have enough bat to make up for it against anybody.
But your point is totally fair, there's a very decent chance that if we leave it to Goins/Maicer we'll end up with Maicer winning the job.
