It's the Kenneth Farhied and Kyle Korver selections I find mind boggling.

Faried is an excellent rebounder (one of the best in the league) and Korver is one of the best three-point shooters in the league.

They generally like these specialized role players.

USA BB is all about need.

The International game is not suited for a big who plays near the basket.

Obviously the Dwight Howards & Tyson Chandlers & now Drummonds are needed because of the athleticism & rebounding.

International ball is a jump shooters game

He's not on the team. They just reduced the number of players to 28. Only twelve people will be on the team. Drummond will not make it.

Definitely an honor, even if he doesn't make the final cut. Drummond would be a solid back up for team USA, because he can impact the game without getting any touches. He can just finish plays, rebound, and defend the rim, like Tyson Chandler did for team USA. (although Chandler is a veteran, obviously) I'd pick him over Beal, Cousins, Faried, Hayward, Korver, Lee, and Thompson all things considered. With that said, I don't think he'll make it.

It's highly unlikely he makes the final cut, but this is more about UABB developing their future talent. Colangelo & Coach K have actually done a very good job of this in recent years and it's possible that in 2-4 years Drummond supplants Chandler. Cousins will likely be his big competition, but he'll need to show substantially more maturity than he showed the last go around when Colangelo called him out.

And as others have said, Faried/Korver are those specialized role players. I have no problem with those selections. This isn't an All-Star game, it's about building a cohesive team and you need guys like that on your roster.

Also, Coach K mentioned Monroe as a possible later addition. So that's cool, too.

I think the NBA is more than just trending in that direction as well.
