probably because he took 29 shots last game?
His arm was tired.

I understand defensive pessimism. And I kept silent with predictions before the game for the same reason. But I was surprised when so many thought Phoenix was just going walk all over us before the game because our starters are better than theirs.
Our starters can hang with most starters...it was the bench disparity that frightened me..but Our starters crushed theirs.

Wall is fine. He's still not a great shooter so as a result, he's not a great closer. Teams go under the screen and force him to take a long 2.
I've got no problem with Beal running pick-and-rolls in clutch situations. He's so much better as a shooting threat.
I'm ok with Beal taking shots in the last 2 minutes...but I don't recall Wall taking a single shot in the 4th....still he played a damn good game...maybe saving energy for tomorrow?
Go back and read my post at the end of the Boston thread. I called it. I said he wouldnt be aggressive after the idiot Witt talked to him. Why would you have a sit down about taking too many shots with one of the most pass 1st guys in the league who after the game said himself that he shot too much and didnt run the offense. You dont need to have a talk with him. Its just going to take away his aggression. He's a pass 1st guy anyways, He has one game like this and Witt makes a big deal even when the guy already was upset himself. Idiot coach

Face it. We have no idea what will happen.
Its just as likely they come out looking great and its a blow out.
Or that we look good and win a competitive game.
Or that we look good and lose a competitive game.
Or we could look terrible like Boston.
One thing you can count on is they will get little help from Randy during the game but he will nail what happened after the game in an interview.
True, but I'm not expecting much. Washington beating a team like Phoenix would be a huge anomaly given our track record against tough opponents this season.
Even if we do win, it won't change the fact that there are systematic issues with this team that will continue to rear their heads in future games. Patience is wearing thin for the defective product Wittman is putting on the floor night after night.
Piece of cake.
Next.

Like I said. They are the Wizards
Man, this would be so much easier with another PG that was quick with great handles off the bench. Temple is more a defender. His handles are average so they struggle to get into the offense with his out there. Specially against press defense like PHX throws at you.
Quality win though.
The could have had Robinson...

Dragic is really good. Amazing he was the 2008: 2nd Rnd, 45th pick.
That a good team. Really well coached. They are always moving to the right space and passing.

He can take less shots if he wants if he was attacking more and setting up teammates but for a bit of the 4th it looked like he was more of a decoy. I mean I'm happy we won...but we've never won a game in the 4th this season I think with Wall being so passive...was just odd to observe.

I thought he played a muuuuuuuch better game tonight, he actually spent some effort on the defensive end. If Wittman "talked" him into playing muuuuuuuch better basketball - then so be it.

BTW, I cant stress enough how much I hate out p&r. People wonder why I rip Witt & Flip over the players. The #1 issues in players vs coaches argument is how is your Franchise player being managed. We are not playing to Wall's strengths. He would be a certified beast in another system. He would attack the rim a ton and he would make the D have to make a decision.
Our P&R is always setup for Wall to just swing it back or take a jumper. Thats the system. The pick guy doesnt set picks like they do in other systems. They leave early. Its about them getting the ball back. Ill even take Eddie Jordan with Haywood just staying there, picking the guy, making sure Gil gets a step before he even thinks about moving. All you have to do is tell these guys to seal the defender for Wall and he would kill defenses but Flip & Witt's offense isnt designed like that.
The reason is because Flip himself was a non athletic PG and he made a system that is like the type he would benefit. Making basic passes back or taking the J. Its for non atheletes like Cassell & Billups. Please get Wall a coach that runs the North & South style, not East & West

They will get consistantly killed by "big" teams. Plumlee is nice but he won't be able to hang with the Goliaths in the west come playoff time. Len is a couple seasons away. The Morris twins can prolly earn good money elsewhere as can Green. They're a good story right now but I wonder what their absolute ceiling is. Of course them not having Bledsoe is **** :/

Come to think of it those two missed PJ Tucker freebies were huge we went on a 4-0 run (huge in a late, close game) afterwards and never looked back. Beal was a G down the stretch.

Yep, watching Bledsoe earlier in the season, I was amazed at how much better he has become in such a short period of time. Really happy he wasn't playing.

Nene is looking a lot more nimble lately. Quickest I have seen him over several game in forever.
Now if someone would just work with him on that line drive FT.
You can see in a win like that the potential this team could have with a few more pieces. Why can't they just cut Singleton or find a trade.
Glad to see Otto got in some good work in a high pressure game like this.

I agree, hands. Maybe Nene has taken up yoga. He had two great dropstep moves tonight that led to some sick dunks. That reverse dunk was awesome. Didn't know he could still do that.

you cant make it sound like it is as simple as that. He played better tonight because he's a good player. That dont have anything to do with Witt. You think he was going to suck tonight if Witt said nothing? Witt is the reason he was passive to start the season and we were 2-7. Wall can win us games on this West Coast trip if he's agressive. Nearly every team we play is that wide open style he thrives in. He can average an efficient 25 & 10 and win or keep us in these games. I dont want Witt to take that aggression away from himdckingsfan wrote:dlts20 wrote:nuposse04 wrote:

Dragic is good, but the flopping and whining get tired....
Gutty win by the team and good job by Wittman today w/ the minutes for Beal. I'm not entirely sure why Vesely didn't get a few minutes tonight. He could have helped with the stretch 4s and running the floor. I would have played him over Seraphin for sure. The ball found Nene a little too much for my liking. The backup pg play was horrendous. Temple was having a real hard time getting them into the offense. I don't know why its taking so long to upgrade here.
Otto shot poorly but I liked what I saw out of him today. He missed a few that at least on TV looked to be on-line w/ a smooth release. He was doing a lot of little things today that was reminiscent of his Georgetown days. I hope Webster is back ASAP but I'd like to see Otto get some run regardless.

I agree. I always say that too. He doesnt have to shoot all the time but I want him to stay in attack mode. This wasnt as bad as the start of the season but it was similar in that Witt held his aggression back. He's not going to ever take 29 shots. That was an aberration so why make a big deal about it. He can take more than 12. If he stays aggressive and takes 18-20 then we can win these WC games. Witt is trying to take that away at the worst time. We arent talented enough to win consistently against the top teams if Wall is not trying to control and be the best player on the floor. He needs to stay in attack mode but the idiot is trying to take that away when our PG is already pass 1st anyways. I dont get it but its Witt
