I still remember saying how stupid it would be to hire from a terrible franchise like the Bucks as opposed to hiring the young up and coming new generation McDonough from rich Boston.

I'm glad Sarver agreed.

I remember we all jizzed reading that article on SB Nation about how McD is gonna be the next best thing.

Yeah hindsight is handy sometimes, I remember REALLY wanting McD as soon as I read the 'profile' on him, stoked we got him now!!

I remember reading that article and thinking we would be crazy not to hire this guy and was wondering why he would want anything to do with the mess blanks left behind. Thankfully he was up for the task.

I did not know anything about Hornacek though I saw that the jazz fans were upset they let him go but I didn't really expect much from him with the roster he had to work with I was going to put off making an assessment on him. Now half way through the season I am amazed at what he is done it came out of nowhere for me.

I also don't see much of Sarver at all during the suns broadcasts. He used to be in the stands all the time during the nash era

Same here. I had high expectations for McD but not for Hornacek but they have both proven to be very good at their jobs this year.

I feel just about the same way. McDonough has been what I expected, but Hornacek has been better than I expected.

Bickley, and Burns & Gambo spent quite a bit of time talking about the change in Sarver the past two years on their respective shows yesterday.
Bickley reported that Sarver signed Dragic in the parking lot of USAC while Blanks was meeting with Eric Gordon. Sarver was the one to fire Blanks & pull the trigger on McDonough as well. Babby liked the assistant GM for the Bucks whose name escapes me atm. Sarver also purposely moved his seats to a corner under the basket that would not be seen on tv much if it all.

I'm confident that he'll be ready to spend when the time is right in a couple years. All in all Sarver seems to have finally got it & that's a great thing.

It's very interesting to see I never expected it to be honest but I am very glad he has changed as much as he has. I remember reading the article by Woj praising him and I think it is a good thing that people are realizing he is getting better as an owner. It will help when signing free agents. I also think the classy moves the suns have made in recent seasons will help as well. Like trading caron to the team he wanted to go, finding playoff teams for scola, dudley, gortat. And then of course sarver agreeing to the Nash trade even though it was the enemy. Let's hope he keeps it up

The summer of 2010 was absolutely the rock bottom of Sarver's regime (replacing Amare with Turkoglu, Childress, Warrick; hiring Blanks). The guy looked like an idiot and was ruining our franchise. Like the proverbial Phoenix, Sarver has risen from the ashes. He seems to finally be getting it. Getting Dragic back was nice but the cream on top was hiring McDonough over Welts which led to the Hornacek hiring. Things are looking sooooo much better. I am one relieved Suns fan.
