Re: Drummond's post touches
Jennings isn't a bad PnR guard. I also recall reading the Larry Sanders article on Grantland (following Sanders' new contract IIRC) that detailed how Sanders would set picks well but basically hold them too long and not roll well, which sort of screwed Jennings.

Re: Drummond's post touches
Let me clarify, he's not good at utilizing the pick and going forward after the PnR defender is caught on the screen. This is why he often looks like he is confused when driving toward baseline but not kicking it out to an open shooter or a bigman. It's honestly the spacing problems but even when the big 3 is not out together, he doesn't utilize it as well as he should.Q00 wrote:DBC10 wrote:Because Jennings isnt good at running a PnR.Notanoob wrote:Speaking of rookie-year Greg Monroe, why have we not seen much pick and roll stuff with him for the past three years? He was pretty effective in that role IIRC.

I recall they did research on him in the pick and roll before trading for him and he graded out well in Milwaukee. I think he's more than capable of being a good pick and roll PG. I don't think the coach's are doing a good job with them practicing their execution on pick and rolls. This team just has the look of one that rarely does anything in practice with any repetition. Every play they run they just seem so green at it, like they just tried it once in practice and called it a day.
To me that's one of their biggest problems is they just don't execute anything with the necessary precision. Its not all the personnel. Its just everything is executed lazy and half ass. That's why I'm convinced a coach like Popovich would have this roster succeeding right now.

I agree except for the spacing part ,because like you said its the same thing even when we are small ball. Its just a poorly coached team is all. They don't execute simple plays like pick and rolls properly and it looks like its because they just don't practice it enough, which is on Cheeks. All that confusion is a sign of players being unfamilar with the situation, and if they were practicing it enough, there wouldn't be any confusion. Uness Jennings has a learning disability, which could be the case lol, but I think is more poor coaching

I've seen a few times this year where he does face up his man and does a kind of hop-step move. the few times I've seen him do it he clearly blows by his man but struggled finishing.
I know it's only like 3-4 times but he looked really mobile doing it.

Hell has frozen over, you and I finally agree.
You are right, there really is NO reason to watch Josh and Brandon jacking up 15-20 shots apiece (at a sub 40% clip) instead of giving Andre some touches and experience in the post. He's a developing guy and if you want to keep him engaged on the defensive end you gotta throw the dog a bone sometimes. Too bad Mo isn't aware of this. I thought he was supposed to have been a great HOF PG?

Either you haven't watched a PNR all year or you're stupid. Everyone freely goes over the screen, Jennings can effectively get his guy on his back, but he is too slow to get around any big man inside and score, so the big guy just plays off of him and plays the roller. Jennings is terrible for this team.

Re: Drummond's post touches
Drummond needs to decide hes going to take over and then needs to have a shower meeting with Smith and Jennings. Once he convinces them that he is the franchise and that he can/will end there career if they dont give him the ball then he will excel.
