He is.

If we make the Stuckey - Smith trade the knicks could start: Stuckey - Hardaway Jr - Melo - Smith - Chandler
with Felton - Jr Smith - MWP - Bargnani - Martin off the bench

That's a super deep lineup and would definitely give Miami / Indy a run for their money and keep Melo in NYC

And that's not bad, because they're an old team which needs win now and we're a long term team. I don't know if you see it bad or good about your post hahaha, I know is not smart reinforce a team for your own Conference, but I think we don't need to care about Knicks, but of our future.

Why? The Knicks are trying (and failing) to win now, they can get a lot better with this trade. The Pistons get a undersized SF/SG with a good (not great) shot and a very good defense, and dump 2 years of the Smith's contract in exchange for Amare's contract (2 years less)

I expect this deal to go down.

With Melo's contract situation, NYK has to prove Melo that they're trying to win. Moving a player like Amare, who can't medically play a lot minutes, for Smith and proven scorer like Stuckey, although they don't need one but you can't have enough good players, is makes sense for them. I like that trade from beginning, if Detroit can manage to add Jerebko's or Bynum's contracts that makes it even better. But obviously Joe wouldn't that. Smith is his big signing and that trade would set the team backwards. It would also improve future chances but Dumars doesn't have time for that.

B.Jennings
R.Stuckey
J.Smoove

for

S.Nash
S.Blake
P.Gasol

Why for Detroit?
unload 2 undesireables and an unpcoming FA
can re-sign Gasol for much less if the 3-big rotation is working with Monroe and Drummond
Nash expires with Bynum and Jerebko the following year or possibly retires or medically retires.
can tank with good players who aren't depressing. having crap at pg and very little at sg/sf = LOSSES.

Why for LAL?
Jennings and Smoove won't mess with their tank for now.
get 2 starters to start with Kobe and their lotto pick. Stuckey = great 6th man.
Kobe could somewhat tame Jennings and Smoove next year.
the Lakers have no problem getting important role players to sign for cheap, so next year could be great.

:) I'm a Pistons fan and Laker fans are the most annoying. Worse than Celtics fans just because they are EVERYWHERE. Now if this was on the T&T Board, the Laker fans would be saying how unfair it is to the Lakers because they can just get Melo and Love for nothing (to add to Kobe and Embiid) instead of Stuckey/Jennings/Smoove for 33 year old Gasol.

EDIT: and I'm not sold on my idea. just wanted to try one that unloads Smoove and Jennings. If we could leave out Stuckey for Nash, then I'm 99% sure I would do it after thinking it over.

Lakers are tanking. NO way they do that. They also can sign better free agents with their cap space.

I think the NYK-DET is the best and more realistic trade, but if Shumpert comes here, I want him with the afro man, he got the soul!

Too bad there's not an "UNDO" button for the offseason. Cheeks sucks. I was high on Jennings in December but he's back to Milwaukee Jennings and Smith also continues to chuck- all of these guys seem to be negatively impacting Monroe and Drummond.

They're helping us tank at least, we won't win without these two fighting to be the 1st option every time we bring the ball up.

I posted this on another thread but I'll post it again.

Would you do this?

Detroit Pistons get: Mareese Speights, Kent Bazemore, Harrison Barnes

Golden State Warriors get: Greg Monroe, Greivis Vasquez

Toronto Raptors get: Will Bynum

Dream Scenario

1) Trade Josh Smith to Boston for Humphries
3) Draft PG- Dante Exum, groom him to be our PGOTF.
2) Sign Gordon Hayward to a 4/50 deal.
3) Re sign Greg Monroe to a 4/50 deal

Jennings/KCP/Hayward/Monroe/Drummond is a very well put together and young SL. I wish it would happen. Jazz don't want to pay Hayward over 12 mill, and granted a 4/50 deal is a slight overpay but in the long run it would be worth it since Hayward would be more productive than Smith has been for the same cost.

Please Joe, please- trade Josh Smith and go after a real SF even if we don't land Hayward, we could still offer a MLE deal to Ariza- who would also be a much better option than Smith at SF.

We need to get Lowry this summer, or get back Knight or similar but we can't continue playing with a ball-hogging PG who can't play any defense.

Why you guys are seeing Smith like the devil (is nearly, I know), but are you keeping Jennings in our roster? I mean, Smith is a chucker, but can play some D (less playing as SF), but Jennings is a ball-hogging chucker who can't play pick n roll, who doesn't look to the post (except to Smith), and he's one of the worst perimeter defenders of the nba...
