Second half predictions

Post#1 » by Maudlin17 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 5:25 pm

Anyone have any predictions for the second half of the season?

1. What playoff spot will they clinch?
I think they finally gel and get the fourth seed.

2. Who will step up their game and have a stronger second half?
I predict Beverley ups his game and gets to 15/5
Howard is gonna get more touches, so his scoring will increase too.

3. What type of new plays will McHale implement to improve the offense
I think he's been using the first half of the season to assess the team. He's gonna come out with some new sets that feature Harden and Howard prominently.

I don't think they can climb much higher. Okc san Antonio Portland appears to be locks. The clippers with Paul would be a lock. Maintaining position and matchups would be best. Houston seems to fare best against san Antonio than the others.

Lin was averaging that and got benched. Points from three doesn't improve the flow of offense. Doesn't handle ball much in offense sets to average 5 assists. Maybe 5 rebounds. Howard gets lots of touches. It's what he does that counts. If he shoots 10 free throws that's 5 shots thats not counted. Anyway if everyone ups there game then we have a shot. A couple players won't cut it this year.

It is already the harden and Howard show. What games have you been watching to want more of the same? We know that giving Parsons good looks make this team better. We know that letting Lin operate makes this team better even if people say that with respect to the second team. We know that having a backup big will make this team better. More sets for harden and Howard isn't going to make the team better. They will get their points and shots. It is still a team game and they need to get the other players going if they are going to be the best team possible.

Oops sorry some of my response in hour quoted section...

1) 5th seed, unless Asik plays nice
2) I actually think Lin will get out of his funk once Greg Smith comes back (assuming Asik is gone at the trade deadline), they had good chemistry last year on offense
3) A big reason why our second unit is performing so badly is because we haven't had a consistent second unit with so many injuries, and McHale basically just playing people who are hot. Hopefully Smith gets healthy soon so we can get a solid bench rotation.

Sir, you have quite the imagination. You should be a novelist!

I think we'll see the team improve, either a little if we trade Asik or keep him inactive, and a lot if Asik buys in to backing up Howard at 15-20 minutes per game.

I think we'll trade Asik. I don't think we'll trade Lin.

We'll lose Parsons for many games down the stretch with back spasms.

Harden will end the year having regressed from last year.

We'll be the 5th seed with homecourt. We'll have 51-53 wins.

I think we'll see Dwight continue to improve his skill set. We've seen him work on his post moves more and more during games. They feel mechanical right now, and probably will at the end of the year as well, but I think they'll be a bit more lubricant on the machinery. Sadly, I think he'll still be shooting 50-55% from the free throw line, instead of the desired 55-60%.

Mr E's liver shall head into steady decline, Max and T-Macunited will become optimists. There will also be many more arguments over Lin. And my basketball team (I play in) will win it's 9th straight title.

Carl Landry will get traded back to Houston. (Come on, we always do a trade with Sacramento!)

Mr E will go to rehab.

Mr E will get kicked out of rehab.

Houston makes the W/C finals.

I'll get another Tattoo.

Best scenario: Rockets finish 8th seed and first round exist just like last season.
Worst scenario: Rockets did not make the playoff. McHale blames players for missing playoff. Morey extends McHale contract with 4 years 30 millions.

For someone that I've been "jostling" with a bit on the other thread I have to agree with Bayballer's assessment. The biggest factors for us will be the Asik situation (by far), the team's health and Lin getting comfortable with just one role.

I believe Lin is comfortable with the role, but what he is not happy or simply upset is there is lack of encourage. Have a good start, good, more bench time for you. Have a bad start, going 0-2, good, more bench time. Now it gets to a point where he is getting garbage minutes.

I think Lin should do what all 'good' Rockets in this team do, be selfish. Harden is cheered as a hero. Casspi is getting the same treatment.

1. Rockets get the third seed but not solely based on improvement. Clippers still without Cp3, will lose a few, spurs without leonard splitter and green for a few weeks, will lose a couple. Final west standings:

1. Thunder
2. Blazers
3. Rockets
4. Spurs
5. Clippers
6. Golden State
7. Memphis
8. Dallas

2. Garcia will step up, and hit his normal clip of threes. Will vastly help the team and give valuable rest to Harden/Parsons

3. Hopefully more Harden, not Howard, post ups. James is strong and can finish. Needs to start abusing smaller players with post ups. Teams will be overwhelmed with a Harden Post up and dwight lurking near the basket for an oop.

Return to Houston Rockets
