If we moved dwill to the starting unit, do you think the starters would increase moreso then the bench would drop off?

Re: Nets Bench with Dwill
I think it's very possible to still play the 2nd unit with D-Will while making him a starter. But I think it's more important to have D-Will out there at the beginning of the game and the beginning of the 2nd half so that we can get off to quicker starts and not slog through like we have been. If the Mavs and Celtics weren't just as ice-cold as we were, we would have been down 10-15 points by the time D-Will came in and would have had to play catchup the rest of the way.
And I've been saying for a while now that D-Will and KG complement each other's games perfectly and should play as many minutes together as possible. KG covers for D-Will's weaknesses on defense, while D-Will would be able to set up KG on a ton of wide open jumpers.
It also doesn't HAVE to always be D-Will that plays with the 2nd unit. You can give Johnson or Pierce some of those minutes as well. I think it's much more important that D-Will starts the halves though, and still gets in his 34+ minutes.

This is true, however, him playing 8-10 minutes with the second unit vs 20-24 minutes with the second unit are not necessarily going to yield the same results.

Defensively I agree. offensively it isnt really difficult to get KG open jumpers. he has gotten them since the move to center regularly. I also think that AK/Mirza/Bltache compliment dwill offensively more then JJ/PP/KG do.

yea, my concern is that you just dont have continuity and chemistry that way. Also, i fear the second unit will actually play worse with johnson on it, as he is more looking for his shot then setting guys up. I'd be all for experimenting with dwill starting in joe johnsons place though.... although I wouldnt make any changes(i.e. keep brining dwill off the bench) until we lose another game. dont mess with what isnt broke.
i just think dwill or JJ playing as the lead guy with the second unit for 20-22 minutes is going to yeild the best results. it creates chemistry on that unit, and it takes 1 mouth to feed away from the starting lineup. As long are both playing 30-35 minutes, i just cant see it hurting the team. and i can see it contuing to yield great results. if you can destroy second units by the tune of +10 to +15 you are going to win alot of games. ESPECIALLY if your starters are able to push with the opponents starters
yestarday Van Gundy made the suggestion that miami would also be better long term with wade coming off the bench. He said as long as he still plays 35 minutes it really doesnt matter that he isnt starting... and said it means you have either him or lebron on the floor at all times. i dont think he is wrong
