We re-sign Lowry to reasonable deal and have a Lowry/Hardaway Jr. back court pairing with Melo at the "4". Then use the draft picks and remaining cap to fill out the SF and C positions, but Tucker could be a nice role-player at SF for the time being. It's time to build a team around Melo and Lowry/THjr/Tucker would be great next to him. Martin/Cole/Tyler could moonlight at C for the time being.

eats into the lakers cap next year, so if the lakers want melo, they'll need to trade for him....![]()

Cavs don't touch this.DowNY wrote:Knicks:
IN - Rajon Rondo, Dion Waiters, Earl Clark & Gerald Wallace
OUT - Raymond Felton, JR Smith, Iman Shumpert, Beno Udrih, Andrea Bargnani, Tyson Chandler & 2018 1st round pick
(Knicks obtain Rondo, gains a 2nd scorer in Waiters, plugs Wallace into the 3 while Melo is at the 4.)
Celtics:
IN - Tyreke Evans, Iman Shumpert, Tristan Thompson, Alonzo Gee, Sergey Karasey, Andrea Bargnani, & 2016 1st rd pick via Pelicans (top-10 protected)
OUT - Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green & Gerald Wallace
(Celtics save a ton of money & gains a lot of prospects for the future. Evans is locked into a 4 year deal. Shumpert & Thompson both still have some untapped potential at SG/SF & PF. Bargs expires after next season. Acquires another 1st round pick.)
Cavs:
IN - Raymond Felton, Eric Gordon, Cole Aldrich & Jeff Green
OUT - Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, Alonzo Gee, CJ Miles, Earl Clark, Sergey Karasev & Anthony Bennett
(Cavs upgrade their SG position with Eric Gordon to pair with Kyrie Irving. Jeff Green is an upgrade over Thompson at the 4 also. Felton becomes backup PG, letting Jack slide to the backup 2 spot.)
Pelicans:
IN - Tyson Chandler, JR Smith, Anthony Bennett, CJ Miles, Beno Udrih & 2018 1st round pick (NYK)
OUT - Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans & top 10 protected 2016 1st
(Pelicans turn 2 pieces that doesn't really fit into 5 pieces that really do fit. Still saves a lot of money in the deal too.
Trades a 1st in 2016, but it's protected if the team is really bad still. Also acquires a future 1st.
Tyson Chandler played with Anthony Davis during the Olympics. Should help his development by a lot.)

I would want a decent player back that could be serviceable but would expire before summer of 2015. And of course salaries would have to work to around 10 or 11 mil in the trade (examples: Thad Young, Jack + Bennett, Andre Miller + Mozgov, DeAndre Jordan, Jameer Nelson, Dragic, Thornton + Fredette, Amir Johnson + Landry Fields,
That way we could have only 3 players on the books going into the 2015 free agency:
Melo = $24 mil (it might be less if we give him less than the max but lets just use this number to be conservative)
Tim Hardaway Jr = $1.3 mil (team option)
Rookie from 2015 Draft = ~1 mil
Assuming cap is $62mil and we have 9 cap holds each at $473,604 (4.3 mil altogether), that would leave us with:
62 mil - 24mil - 1.3mil - 1 mil - 4.3 mil = about 32 mil to play with. This number wouldn't be enough to get two max cats. Unless Melo takes a bit of a paycut, it would be enough for one max-star and one borderline allstar.
If Melo took a bit of a paycut this summer:
PG: Rondo
SG: Hardaway Jr.
SF: Melo
PF: Love
C: 2015 1st Round Pick
Bench: MLE, LLE, 2nd rounders, Vet Mins 4 Ringchasers (basically the Miami path lmao)

Now at this time next year i might be a little more willing to make a trade just because all these overpaid guys we have contracts will be worth something to other teams because of their expiring contracts so we might actually be able to pull off a trade that would help us and not hurt us.
S.Mills..... excuse me....James Dolan absolutely has got to get it right in 2015.
GO KNICKS!!!!!!!!

Love wud not be a good fit with Carmelo... As Anthony gets older we will see him play play the 4 a lot more so a gasol/rondo duo mite be best for him
