Throw in the Bucks unprotected 2014 first and I love that deal.

Why we're going to lose Monroe? I don't understand NOTHING. I only hope if we trade him we can get a great young player like Hayward or something like that.

Even without it its a good deal. If were losing Monroe anyways then Henson is a good consolation prize and taking Smith off our hands for a expiring SF, sign me up.

Jazz have Kanter and Favors, why would they trade a good fit player for another big?

As with all things Dumars, I expect him to avoid taking the longview and to either trade him for outright garbage or pretend he will give us a discount, only to see him walk in the offseason. I see no way this ends well for us.

Hasn't Kanter hit a huge slump? I am not super familiar with the Jazz, but I seem to remember them starting Favors at Center, with Richard Jefferson at PF against us, with Kanter playing backup minutes. If that's the case, they could role with Monroe at Center and Favors at PF and Jefferson at SF so they could give out Hayward. I could be super wrong though, I don't watch a lot of Jazz.

I suspect we will get nothing, or another disaster (Jennings, KCP, RUDY GAY, Smoove, Andre).

I'm not sure that we wouldn't be a better team by trading Monroe now assuming we then moved Smith to his more natural PF and acquired a true scoring SF in return for Moose. Unless we traded Moose for picks I guess - PHX has those to move.

IF we trade Moose before the deadline I still think Washington is his landing spot with Otto Porter the main piece coming back our way.

That would be a huge let down. Porter does not look like a guy who belongs in the NBA.

Look at the shot selection charts for PF and SF in the Smith highlights thread before you put stock in the belief that Smith will somehow be drastically better playing at PF full-time. Hint: They are almost identical.

Despite beliefs, Monroe actually did a better job guarding the post than Smoove according to numbers (yeah, I know, numbers). Smith is obviously more athletic so in theory he would be a better help defender but that's a theory. The reality is that he only utilizes that athleticism when motivated. And that's been the rare occasion.

Monroe is more efficient on offense but he's no more of a impact player towards wins either. He was the #1 option last year and we were still getting blew out. I like Monroe but he's not going to be worth the money now that Dre is here. I can't ever remember Monroe carrying us in the 4th and getting us a win against any playoff teams or anything. He's a solid role player but he can be replaced for cheaper.

For Monroe to be an impact player he needs to be given the ball -- otherwise he disappears. Unfortunately this doesn't happen nearly enough after the first quarter.

One thing I keep hearing that I don't necessarily agree with is the sentiment that we are safe down low if we trade Monroe. Last I checked Drummond hasn't developed a post game and as I've mentioned in previous posts Smith isn't likely to change shot selection if moved to PF.

I think people really take for granted Monroe's ability to post up and will really only miss it once he's gone. Ideally you would want Drummond to shift into that role and someone to slide out and hit midrange jumpers at the four. But neither Smith nor Drummond have shown yet that they can do this in actual games.

Smith has had plenty of opportunity to show an identity as a legit PF and still decides to drift out and badly shoot the midrange jumpers. Drummond just rarely ever gets touches in post up situations.

And before people say that this would change if Monroe was traded, there has been AMPLE playing time where Monroe has inexplicably sat the bench where Drummond and Smith were on the court together. Neither the opportunities nor the production has materialized.

^^^ 100% agree with Invictus If we trade Monroe were gonna be so screwed . Teams we'll just back off Josh mchuckster and let him brick away from the outside. At best Drummond might get some more touches to work on his back to the basket game but he's not ready.
