We could run him with Frye as the stretch 4 or we could use him with Miles in a bigger lineup. He'd bring what people think Pau would but he's significantly younger and he's super efficient. I had to do a double take at the 57% on 14 shots per game.

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

We're fine as we are right now. If you want to improve, look somewhere else.

I'd look towards Atlanta :D

I'd like to see Horford on this team.

Me too. Durant, LeBron, and Love as well. Too bad these are guys that are untouchable this year. There is also the problem with Horford that he is out for the year.

I think he'd be easier to get than some would think. I don't really care that he's out for the rest of this season, I'm thinking more about next year and the year after.

Keep Gasol's moping, insecure, bitchmade yelling ass away from this team.

Listening to ktar right now. He (gambo) is absolutely against a trade for pau. Good stuff. But did say emeka is the best trade chip in the nba.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

Markieff is doing just fine in this role this year. 1/3 of his possessions on offense are post-ups where he scores 0.96 PPP. Pau scores 0.82 PPP in the post this year.

What was Horford scoring before he went down? Or just tell me where you got these stats. Or both...

Horford:

PPP overall - 1.03
PPP on post-ups - 0.9

Horford would be perfect. Too bad he's injured and most likely unavailable.

What is ATL's incentive to trade Horford for the corpse of Okafor? ATL is comfortable in their cap management and unless they think they can sign Melo or James, they would have a hard time finding a player that can replace what Horford brings to them.

Yep! These trades are madness. Why would the fourth seed in the East trade their best player, even if he's injured.

Come on guys.

It is not on demand right now. I want to know if Gambo mentioned some other names, trade options.

To me, the Gasol for Okafor only makes sense if the Suns are getting something else back. A draft pick; maybe a trade of some sort to move a contract/ Not that the Suns have bad contracts -- but four players have deals with one year left next season if Frye opts in - Frye, Green, and the Morri. So, if McDonough wants more cap space next season - maybe he uses Okafor this season

Gasol for Okafor straight up. Not sure I do that deal. It doesn't make the team better and it just adds money to payroll

I know he is playing well - but the guy to move is Frye - his value will never be higher

I would much rather have other players besides Pau Gasol, but given the circumstances if no other team wants a $15mil expiring contract, I would take Pau as he could improve the team for the short term, it seems like a lateral move to me at it's worst.

Ok. I will bite. Okafor, Frye, and 3 first round picks (Minny pick, Wizards pick, and Suns 2015 pick) for Kevin Love and JJ Berea.

Minnesota gets huge cap relief, gets rid of player in Berea that they want to move, and gets picks. If the Kevin Love experiment is over, this is a way to rebuild.

Suns still have their own pick this year, the Indy pick this year, and the Lakers 2015 pick.

Barea and Love aren't exactly best of friends right now, it would have to be someone else. Plus I think Okafor & 3 1st for Love is a decent offer. We might have to give up Plumlee or Len too though.

From a Suns perspective - it doesn't make them worse. Make the Lakers take Kravsov for a body to move off the bench instead of waiving somebody. But right, Okafor for Gasol doesn't hurt the Suns. It probably just cheapens Sarvers pocketbook. Because if Gasol is sucking, he doesn't play. Okafor is not playing - lateral move and no long term cap ramifications.

But to me, if the Lakers are saving all this cash by dumping Gasol - some $10m - Suns should get something else back in return to me.

I think it would cost the Morris Twins and Archie Goodwin -- instead of Frye - for a deal to go down. The Twolves would want to get younger, not older. Goodwin has upside potential. Morri give you what they give you.

I am not trying to rain on everyone's parade who thinks this is new stuff, but Woj's article is just a rehash of what has been stated many times in the past by McDonough. It is nothing new.

The difference seems to be the the trade deadline is 3 weeks away and there is an absolute paucity of trade rumors out there to feed the media's annual trade deadline feeding frenzy, which the media needs to drive hits on their websites etc… I do not think I have ever seen it this dead this close to the trading deadline.

I think there is a combination of factors, but the first is that there seems to be a great reluctance to trade 1st round picks in this year's draft, especially when the team does not know where the pick will lie. The second is that a number of teams that fell below expectations have already made the moves to clean up their caps and try to avoid the lux tax - see Chicago-Cleveland. Right now only 4 teams are above the cap and only one of them, the Lakers, appear to be in line to miss the playoffs. There is not much incentive for the other teams to shed salary to fall under the cap. The Lakers have only one real asset and he is hugely expensive from a salary standpoint. There are a number of teams that will fall below the cap next year, enabling them to bid on free agents.

The teams that could be looking to shed salary and seem to be bound up with the salary cap for next year are Houston OKC Min NYK and Den. Most of these teams do not have anything or any combination of things worth Okafor's $14.5M contract that they would be willing to move for cap relief. There might be another team or two that might want to make a deal so they could bid on a substantial free agent, but what do you have to take on would appear to be highly questionable.

To be realistic, the only trade I see playing out would be Okafor and one of the lesser 14 picks for a T Young or a J Green type. Guys like Noah and Horford are not on the market. Playoff teams trade for a veteran to make a better push, this usually means having to give up a little more value to get this player. Even Pau Gasol would cost this team a pick plus Okafor.
