ROFL. Thank God you are not the GM, if thats the type of move you would make. Monroe for Gay. LOL, you're crazy if you wanted to see Jennings/Gay/Smith big 3

Considering you are responding to things nowhere to be found in my post, I would say you are the crazy one lol

read the bold

yeah, what's your point? I know what I wrote. I think you need to read it again yourself, as it says nothing even close to what you are implying.

Need to trade them both.

1) Smith for anything decent.....expiring(s) most preferred.

2) Trade Monroe for actual assets.

Build around Drummond

My deal would be this. Detroit sends J-Smoove and CV to New York for Stoudemire.

Amare's deal ends next season and they can use the stretch provision on him enabling them money to sign Monroe to an extension while the Knicks get their starting 4 to play with Melo.

Next on the list, Mo Cheeks ain't bad as a guy, but he ain't the right fit. Why didn't the Pistons get Lionel Hollins instead? He had a team in Memphis similar to the one that's in Detroit and he was able to get the most out of those players and turned a knucklehead like Z-Bo into a star.

Any thoughts?

Agree on Hollins being a better fit than Cheeks. But giving up Josh (who I've hated for years as a player) this early in favor of Amare seems short-sighted.

And it's my understanding a large contingent of Detroit fans do not consider Monroe a suitable building block to play next to Drummond.

The reason I went with the Amare deal is because of J-Smoove's contract situation. I feel that it would be wise to do that. Plus to be honest they should have given more playing time last year to Drummond and Monroe to see how both players would work out. Neither seem to be a fit.

The best move would be trade J-Smoove for Amare's contract and stretch provision him and then see what Monroe's value is and go for something like what the Wizards could be offering. You won't get rid of Jennings AKA Chuck city since his attitude and his bone-headedness has not endeared him to many in the NBA circles.

They should just build the team around Drummond and move out. This just isn't working and it doesn't help when the owner is suffering from short-sightedness.

Pete,

Here are my two ideas:

1) Josh Smith for Okafor and a pick

2) Greg Monroe for Porter and an unprotected pick.

My two deals to safe money and help rebuild.

Looking at all the perimeter options, I think Afflalo might be the best bet.

Hearing Orlando talk after the game about not having the size to match us, I think they would take Monroe for Afflalo in an instant. Personally, it seems kind of lopsided though in value given Afflalo's age (even though he would fit great) but if we can get them to include a future 1st round pick, I think that would be a fair deal.

Of all the perimeter guys that may be available, Green, E.Gordon, Beal, Turner, etc Afflalo provides everything of what we need on offense at the best price, and brings good defense too, and I like the fact that there's familiarity there with him playing here before. We know what kind of player/person he is, and know that he's a guy you can win with. I'm not sold that you can win with those other guys like I am about about him.

Green makes me wonder because OKC didn't become a contender until after they traded him, and that coincided with Boston's run kind of ending in terms of being true contenders. The other guys have all been on lotto teams their whole careers. What we need is a high character, unselfish, hard working defensive-minded vet who has been on a winning playoff teams and is proven. Afflalo give you all that and has the best contract.
