Ross has been very impressive as a P&R ball handler. Never expected to see that this year. You can tell he has been working on the right things & has been working hard.

He still makes ''young player'' type mistakes, but you can see the potential.

I think he's going to be a much better player than I gave him credit for last season. He's shown a lot this season. Looks like he's going to be a dead-eye 3 point shooter & his slashing skills will improve significantly in the next 3 years.

He's making me worry less & less about passing on Drummond.

Joe Johnson did him just as dirty.

Casey said in the post game interview that he doesn't want call him a "lockdown defender" just yet. I think he just doesn't want to fill his head...but hes definitely on his way...to bad Kobes out this season, I would have loved to see how Ross fared against him. The Paul George games were great but I was most impressed with how he defended John Wall. That guy absolutely torched us in the first game and pretty much got shut down the second game and Wall is easily the fasted guy in the league. The difference was night and day

The Guardian has always been legit.

The one problem though is his passiveness. You cant always let the game come to you. Sometimes you have to make moves so the game flows your way.

Ross needs to drive more and I hope with time and Casey on him, we see this happen.

The most flattering thing you can say about Ross is that when Lowry is having trouble with a PG, which doesn't happen often, Ross gets switched on to him and shuts him down. He's really underrated IMO.

His game is better suited for us at the 2 spot, cos he has things that a lot of winning contender craves for. Dude's got game.

:)

I like how hard he works in between the games.
devouring scouting reports and film to improve the success percentage of his oncourt anticipation.
Fighting through and around screens is pure experience. That will come with time.

He has shown flashes of elite quicks on both sides of the ball.
Drool worthy cross overs on O and playing tight on ball D.

He looks a lot like that Super star guy sometimes on O and many times on D.

It's ok the secret's out now.

He's showing an amazing amount of defensive ability for a second year player. He's not lock-down yet - but he can get there and probably earn himself all-NBA defense recognition at some point. I have so much more confidence in him becoming a a legit starting SG than I do in Derozan, who at this point is actually already there.

DD *is* a legit starting two-guard right now, but I think Ross can be even better. He's way more athletic and we're hearing that he's studying the game, players, tendencies and such - so when you combine the athleticism, defense and scoring potential with a cerebral player - I'll take that over a hard working but limited player any day of the week.

DD had 4 years of very modest year-to-year improvement - almost flat line in some areas - and had he not taken some pretty big steps to improve his game this season, a whole lot more of the fanbase would be consider the two of them equals with Ross having the higher upside due to his 2-way capability. We'll have to let the season play out for both of them and then decide if keeping them as a duo is preferable to moving one of them to address our weakness at the forward spots.

Also - we need to give BC and more specifically Casey some credit for taking a chance on him. Casey is from Seattle, scouted a lot of Ross' games and pushed hard for him at the draft, who along with the analytics team built the consensus for Colangelo to pick him at #8.

As long as Terrence can continue to put on lean muscle to keep his speed and agility sharp, then we'll have a defensive beast on our hands.

He still occasionally falls for the pump fake, but what makes him unique defensively is that he rarely ever bites on a crossover so he doesn't get beat off the dribble easily. Being in a constant defensive stance with hips dropped helps since it can be tiring that not many players are up for the task. I think he's as good as Tony Allen, but that has more to do with Tony gambling which makes him susceptible to being beat. He also has the luxury of Marc to erase his errors so that helps where as Ross doesn't and he has to clean up his own mistakes by chasing down his man. That alone puts him in that tier for me as an outstanding defender. Only players that are truly lock down defenders are LeBron, Iggy, Paul George, and Eric Bledsoe.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Been saying it all along. That game last year vs Rockets sold it for me. The way he was guarding Harden and making it so difficult for him, I noticed Harden was getting frustrated, other then the fact that Harden loves to force fouls and flop Ross did a terrific job. He has all the physical tools, just needs to touch up on a couple of things and he'll be right there. I've seen him do well against Wade/Harden/PG/ and even Wall for a bit, that's some elite company right there.

Remember the narrative around here regarding his dinosaur arms rendering him useless on defence?
