2014 Official FA Thread
I don't watch the Heat at all, but from what I understand Chalmers is more an off the ball gunner than a playmaker? He might be capable in filling in the secondary playmaking duties from time to time but I don't think that's his MO.
LeBron and Wade I assume feed off each other much like Goran and Eric do, starting together with shared playmaking duties, and then subbing for each other so that one is always on the floor. It's a rotational concept that I think more and more teams are starting to adopt. It relieves the need for a ten man rotation and eliminates the reliance on a stud backup PG.

Dragic/Bledsoe > Chalmers/Wade at this point. LeBron would love playing with these two.
Chalmers isn't a ball facilitator in that system... If you watch enough heat games you will see he is on primarily for defense, where he, Lebron and Wade suffocate other team's perimeter.... Offensively he plays off the ball a lot...

Having lebron/Goran/eb on one team is too many ball handlers. Not that I think there's a chance in Jericho LBJ is coming here but if that were the case I would send bledsoe packing.

I hate even entertaining the whole LBJ thing. Buf if, IF, he were to come here, LBJ's "little bro" Bledsoe would be a large reason why. I have no problem moving Dragic to the Ginobli-esque 6th man role if for some reason hell froze over (Hey, Saints won a Super Bowl so it happens... occasionally) and LBJ signed here.

Oh right, I forgot about that little connection. I'm glad this is a 0% chance scenario cause I wouldn't want to imagine the suns dragonless.

Re: 2014 Official FA Thread
I hate the lakers with a passion. In my eyes they represent everything wrong with the NBA.
"Speaking of the Suns, I was told the Los Angeles Lakers might go hard after Suns point guard Eric Bledsoe, who is out the rest of the season with a knee injury. Bledsoe will be a restricted free agent next summer, but I'm told the Lakers might be willing to overpay him to pry him away from Phoenix ESPN.com"
They would be willing to F&$@ another team. Nothing unusual with that. Ryan should do everything he can now to **** them. Match any offer and never do business with them.
Obviously the suns can offer the biggest contract but the lakers can front load the contract or backload the contract kinda like the Lin contract to make it unfavorable to the suns. Anyway, I hope the lakers strike out hard in free agency.

They can have him for their pick. Otherwise I'll just laugh my ass off to the notion of not matching their offer.

Send a top 5 pick to PHX for Bledsoe and you can have him.

I was just going to post that article.
This gives us even more a reason NOT to trade for Gasol!

Re: 2014 Official FA Thread
If they are thinking of offering the max, then they can't really front or back load it. It would have to start at the max first year with the max raise each year.
So to frontload it or something would just mean it would be below the max because the later years would be less, and would be a benefit.
I think they'd be kind of stupid to give a ton of money to Bledsoe though, because if they did, they would have about $45 million tied up in Nash, Bledsoe and Kobe next year and extremely limited money for a frontcourt and bench.

Exactly. The lakers keep trying to burn every team, they are going to burn any bridge they had left. No one is going to want to do business with them. I think you are already seeing this with the lakers. No one is willing to deal with them (not like they have any assets to deal).

Uh, no they can't. There are rules on how much you can screw with the pay schedule of a deal and those poison pill contracts like Lin and Asik are only doable in very specific situations.

I'd bet my mortgage payment this month that they'll stretch provision Nash this Summer.

Does that mean he could sign with the Suns, be our 6th man for a year, then retire a Sun?

Do it! Says, "Thanks Nash for helping screw the Lakers!" That 2015 pick might be really nice. Then straight to the front office.

Re: 2014 Official FA Thread
I just knew the lakers board was going to make this a thread and of course, there it is. Here is one of their brillant comments. Us suns fans are "clueless." I know Dragic is better the Bledsoe.
Right now I dont think you can find many suns fans who think Bledsoe is better then Dragic. They must not watch basketball. lol
Tiesto_Lakers wrote:crazyeights wrote:Overpay him if for no other reason than to force the Suns to match.
And if they don't match? lol.
But anyone who says Dragic is better than Bledsoe is clueless. Bledsoe is a mini-LeBron on offense and an absolute beast on defense. Dude puts high pressure on ball handlers and plays passing lanes well.

I agree, and he certainly wouldn't get much time. Kind of a 1 day contract type of deal. It becomes a bit of a farewell tour.
