I know his game well. No chance in hell he breaks 4.45. Plays at 4.5 at best. Got by in GLIAC on being bigger and stronger than everyone. Pretty linear athlete, really don't see a lot to like. Rooting for him though.

so dumb. shouldve cut their losses when they couldve had griffin

I think the Griffin trade looks pretty good for them right now.

It is now yes, but if griffin returns to his rookie form I make that trade again. Plus if stl doesn't get a qb eventual they aren't going anywhere either

Even if Griffin regains his form, it still was pretty monster haul. Three defensive starters already, and the 2nd overall pick in this draft.

Agreed, pretty nice haul they got so far with the picks they got and what they flipped some of those picks for
Michael Brockers
Isaiah Pead (though they really should have just kept the pick used to select Alshon Jeffrey instead of dealing it for Pead and a guy they ended up cutting)
Zac Stacy
Stedman Bailey
Alec Ogletree
Janoris Jenkins

(though i also think RGknee is overrated as **** to begin with, kind of helps when you have 3 guys that are legit #1 or #2 NFL receivers on your college team at the same time.)

My take on RG3:

I would have made the trade if I"m WAS and I'd do it again. The injury issue is a legit problem but he got that team off the canvas and into the playoffs pretty much by himself. He's a charismatic face of the franchise and that means something for that team. When his legs are right he's a fantastic dual-threat talent.

He's a bright guy and I expect him to learn from last year's mistakes. Missing an offseason by rushing rehab instead of developing the mental side of the game killed his 2013.

As for what they gave up...
Ogletree is a playmaking LB for one team or the other. Love his range and closing burst, hate his positional discipline.

Brockers is a decent starting defensive tackle. Has not been as much of a pass rusher as anticipated but has been better against the run.

Pead is a bust, likely won't make the team again.

Stacy took Pead's expected role. Good-not-great reliable yardage churner.

Bailey flashed real well in a couple of games--with Clemens at QB instead of Bradford. Did not catch a pass from Bradford all season.

Janoris is money as a playmaking corner. The best of the haul.

Rok Watkins is a backup for the Chiefs.

But the Rams still don't have a QB. They're paying Bradford to be an average starter and get hurt a lot. He's missed 16 games in four years, the equivalent of one full season.

Teams win because of QBs. Washington has a guy that can do that. St. Louis still does not.

Of course still have the 2nd overall pick which means they could still theoretically draft Teddy Bridgewater and end up with the better QB along with everything else.

Hey Jeff, after the Shrine game, any adjustment in your observation that you would take Jeff Mathews over Jimmy Garoppolo?

I didn't see any of the practices, but I really liked what I saw of Mathews in the game. Yeah, he threw the pick and he seems overcautious, but he moved nicely in the pocket, kept his eyes downfield, threw a sweet deep out. I like Garoppolo a lot more than I did before (wow, that release is lightning), but Mathews is the one that is itching at the back of my brain, like Kaepernick in '11. Thoughts?

Damn I totally called garrapolo breaking out, his stock is rising something fierce. Looks to be a solid 2nd rounder with a chance to break in the 1st just as I surmised.

He's got a big week now with the step up in competition. Was neither good nor bad today. Def. behind Carr but ahead of Fales on South roster.

The only dirt I got on Dallas from Senior Bowl week is that it's a very good thing to be in the same bar as Jerry Jones. He looks completely plastic but he isn't shy about buying drinks for everyone.

Actually, I do know they're doing a lot of background checking on RaShede Hageman. They also like Pierre Desir, the long QB from Lindenwood.

Anything new about the Falcons? Mike Smith coached in the senior bowl, what influence will that have?

Normally it sorts out who a team doesn't want more than who they take. But most staffs usually take a couple of guys in the 2-5 round range and usually a lot earlier than expected.

Hey Jeff, what's the general consensus on Kyle Shanahan? I know he's been passed over for the BAL and MIA OC jobs. Is he considered a credible NFL OC or is he seen as more of a daddy's boy? Do you have a take on him?

He's very much tied to his father and not many people think he'd be where he is without his name. That said, he's trying to distance himself and broken away from his dad some over RG3.

He's only ever worked for his dad or Gary Kubiak, Shanahan's top protege. I'd like to see what he can do away from them. He's only like 29 so there's a lot of time. People around the Texans liked him but thought he wasn't ready.

on your mock draft, why did you have the Saints trade up for a guard when they have two Pro Bowlers at the position?

I'm doing one for Detroit Lions Draft that will be up Monday night, remind me to post a link here.

For here, the next one will come after the Combine. Working on updating the player rankings right now, that comes next.

Su'a-Filo can easily start for them at RT. I didn't write up the explanation very well, my bad. He's got D.J. Fluker potential as a tackle. Good question.
