I went through all the starting-level PGs and all of them either go past 2015 or are worth too much with the limited assets we have. All I found was Jameer Nelson.

I was thinking about since there arent many PG's avaiable why not go after a combo guard... I mean felton is like a short version of a combo guard.... Enter in Tyreke Evans who has not fit in NO... A Bargnani/Felton for Evans makes sense for both teams.... NO gets rid of there 2 Guard glut and get rid of evans longterm contract , while the knicks upgrade at guard position.... And it also works ok for 2015 as felton was already going to take up 5 mil so the difference will be 5 mil extra as Evans makes 10 that yr...
Chandler
Anthony
Shumpet
Evans
Pablo

Rather have that then put up with 3 years Donut boy, for the raps to even take on donut boy would require a pick. Lowry has also expressed a desire to resign with the raptors. But the real argument is we dont want Fat boy, heck you guys dont even want Fat boy. In your trade we would be essentially give up lowry for free.

I like Evans, he looked great in his rookie year, he could be good in the right situation.

If you have one pick left in the next five years you have to keep it, I don't see Irving moving if he's unhappy. He's still a low cap hit for the next two years, and Cavs would look for similar return as Rondo( involve a lottery or another star in return).

Yeah, but not for us. We need a pt guard and an upgrade/replacement/backup for Tyson. Plus we're about to go MeloMax.
why would we pay over 10million for the next 3 years after this one for a big guard that can't shoot--we've got Shump on a rookie deal.

Very different player than Shump.
Hes really a playmaker and could get to the basket, which we had been missing from our guards
Wouldnt be suprised to see him end up a Knick this summer for an expiring contract

I've seen him play. I understand his skill set. elite dribbler, penetrator, and finisher. But he's not a point guard (ask both teams he's been on ) and he can't shoot. He's not good enough for the space he'll take up on our cap. His skills are such that if he could hit a jumper or play pt guard full time, he would be a bargain at 11 mil, but that's not the case. He'll be playing the 2 or 3 on the knicks, and we already have cheaper, better fitting, and some would say better talent already at that position.

Just needed a place to say this.
I've been trying my hardest to see the good in Bargs all season, but I keep looking at stat after stat that says he sucks. We need to try to find a way to trade this guy for a bag of peanuts. It just sucks that we gave away a 1st rounder for him. Oh well.

And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

idk man... Felton will get 3.9 mil and Tyreke will get 10.7 mil that summer (according to ShamSports)... that 7 mil might mess up our plans. Plus I feel like Tyreke is overpaid. Any other players you could think of?

I have made this point about the Knicks before on how I believe teams dont want to trade with the Knicks bc the want us to "suffer" and lose and have Melo leave. Thats why all these trade scenarios are ridiculous. There is only 3 ways we are going to to improve this team. 1. Players get better 2. Free Agency 3. Draft
Now this changes if/when we start winning and Melo resigns bc then the aura of desperation from the KNicks is gone, and the prospect of Melo leaving is off the table, then the Knicks will have more leverage in talks.

I would have to reluctantly agree. I think Bargs as a backup Center, playing 25 minutes a night, in the lineup of
Bargs/Kmart/Melo is a winning philosophy. But:
1)Kmart is 36 and unless we can get a Kmart/Tyson replacement, like Larry Sanders, that lineup is not in our future.
2)Woody seems to be hell bent on playing Bargs big minutes as a starter, which doesn't work, and the few times it has worked, Woody benches him in the 4th.
3)While the next coach may be able to use Bargs excellent D on big men and his efficient shooting off the bench, we have no cap space, and Bargs soon to be expiring contract may be far too valuable in a trade to keep.

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
Problem with any trade is we can't add cap to our 2015 number. Either melo resigns and we need to stock up with costars or he leaves and we need new stars. Only exception is if we trade for something better than what we can get in 2015.
In fact we should be looking to unload Smith and Felton to free up 2015. Again, exception is if it is for a guy making what they combine. That said I wouldn't be too surprised if Smith opts out any way for more $
On the subject, Shumpert will be due his raise that summer and unless the rules changed on the cap hold. If still true then he should a guy to look to move as well.

not sure if this was mentioned anywhere but according to the wiretap, rondo is interested in exploring free agency. does this give any more leverage to teams interested in acquiring him or put any added pressure on ainge to trade him? Personally i've been on the "get rondo" train for a while now as i think he is the type of PG Melo needs to win and if he is interested in exploring FA, i think ainge may wanna move him so as to not let him walk for nothing..

Rondo isn't the type of PG Melo needs.
The best PG for Melo is one who can play PG but also hit an outside shot. Rondo can't shoot.

Marshall would have been perfect because his outside shot is improving so much.

How would Marshall have been perfect when Woodson wouldn't be playing him?
But I do agree.

The problem is there are not many pgs available , but here is another try
NY- Lowry, Fields, Hayes
PHO- Bargnani, Shumpert
TOR- Okafur, Felton
Ny- gets a upgrade at the pg spot but has to take on 2 dead weight contracts of Hayes/fields who expire though same time 2015
Pho- The seem like a team that can use a stretch center and make it work, and they get Shumpert who they always have coveted
Tor- They make the move because Okafur is expiring and they remove fields/Hayes off the payroll
