Probably best not to bump these. It will only cause a flame war.

How many times in NBA's history a player has lead the league in PER and Offensive Rating?

It seems a little too late for LeBron but he finally got that huge performance vs the Knicks.
30 points, 13-22 FG, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals.
Let's see if LeBron goes on a streak of monster games and what can Durant do.
What happened to KD vs Was? Did he finally show up tired or something? I did not expect him to slow down on this particular game, but I guess this kind of thing usually happens in unexpected games. Heat also loss that 27 game winning streak against the Bulls with a ton of injured players last year.

What?! Lebron has been very good the last month! he is like 29,7,6 !

We should wait till the end of the year to make bold statements. Durant had the hottest month of his career. He had a Jordan-esque type of a month averaging 35.9 ppg, 6.1/6.1 rpg & apg on 54% FG. That is INSANE. Today he made me realize he is human. He was 38% from the field and went 0/6 from the 3 point line. Right now KD is the MVP, but we have only played half the season!
I do expect Lebron to pick it up. I see his average going back up to his career average which is 27/7/7 by the end of the year with 57%-58% FG roughly. He has been playing very aggressive lately. He had a monster game today both offensively and defensively against the Knicks: 30 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals. 13-22 FG.

We have only played half the season so far though. KD was just the best player in the NBA during the month of January. To me, the first 2 months, KD and Lebron were pretty equal in terms of productivity but maybe the tiny edge goes to KD for the first 2 months. Correct me if I am wrong but Lebron had a better 2nd half last season, right? I just don't see Lebron going for 15 shots per game anymore. I see him taking closer to 20 till the end of the year and averaging 28/8/8 for the rest of the season. His average will balance out to 27/7/7 like I said in my previous posts.
If KD keeps up his level of play, no doubt he is the MVP. But if he goes back to how he played the first 2 months AND Lebron plays like Lebron (like he did today), it's still a 50-50 call for MVP.

It was something like OKC's 8th game in 12 nights. They've had three back-to-backs in that stretch and have been on the road for six of their last seven games. Could've just been a case of Durant (and the team for that matter) showing a little fatigue on the second night of a road back-to-back at the end of an east coast road trip.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

Since his name is relevant to this discussion, DeRozan had 30 points and 10 assists in the second half against the Blazers, that hasn't been done in 10 years.

DeRozan is in no way relevant to the MVP discussion. If the season ended today, I doubt anyone would put him on their top 5 ballot. He won't make any of the all-nba teams. Sure he's an all-star, but its in a very weak conference and many would say that Lowry deserves that spot over him. His team has the 13th best record. He's ranked outside the top 50 in PER, and the top 100 in ORTG and DRTG. He's a nice player, but no he's not relevant to this thread.

Hes 8th, which in my opinion doesn't make him relevant. Its also just one list, but regardless he still wouldn't garner a single MVP voting share according to it. Which means he's not relevant. Dragic is also on the list, he's not really relevant either.

He has been good and will always be. He's LeBron James. Those numbers are just his normal at the office. But he had a lot of losses (including one to KD even though it wasn't his fault he played well). Also Durant has been putting up monster numbers so LeBron will have to come up with something special. 6 steals vs the Knicks is a special stat.

Re: 2013-14 MVP Discussion Thread Pt II
31-8-8 on 11/21 tonight against an always defensively tough Memphis team for Durant. OKC now 49-11 through 50 games, 17-7 without Westbrook on the year, and first place in the Western Conference. The absurd numbers for Durant aside, when you stepback and look at what he's doing in leading his team to the best record in the West and second best in the NBA without another All-Star teammate for essentially half the season, his season becomes even more impressive.

This is the biggest part for me. Insane numbers like you said, but 17-7 puts OKC at a .708 win percentage, which would be tied for the 3 seed now w/ Portland. That's without Westbrook alone, and even for me being relatively optimistic, I never would have expected that record.

Durant has been insane, and i don't want to take anything away from him, but Ibaka has been very impressive as well, and the OKC defense continues to get better.
Perry Jones has also looked much better with greater opportunity and i think his defense, length and versatility is contributing greatly to OKCs defense.
Durant has been **** mental, but he is fortunate to also have a great defense behind him, which hasn't been the case in years gone past and is a massive reason why i have OKC as the real deal this season.
Only 1 team is top 5 in ORtg and DRtg - OKC (SA just miss out - 6th in O, 5th in D).
Balance on both sides of the ball wins rings. They had it last season, but losing Russell in the playoffs derailed it all. If he can get back, OKC are a real show this season.
