Is Lebron still the best player in the NBA?

Post#1 » by HIF » Sat Feb 1, 2014 10:07 am

Lebron is awesome but watching KD over the last couple of years I think this is a legit discussion topic now.

So simple question . What do you think?

I feel that it's an incomplete comparison based on the fact that both guys play in a different system, have different responsibilities to their respected teams. If LBJ were as offensive minded as KD, we may have a different conversation and it might not be close.

Defense, assists, etc. are not a sexy stats, POINTS are - There is nothing to be taken away from KD, at the same time, it's still too early - IMO to label KD over LBJ....KD is an offensive juggernaut right now..

This is KD's time RIGHT NOW...he deserves all of the hype/praise he's currently receiving...

Glad we have LBJ

It seems to me that AT THE MOMENT Kd is a much better offensive threat and at least as good a leader. The question is whether his defense is as good as Bron's. There has been slippage in Bron's defense this season and KD is playing the best defense of his life.

TBH if I was drafting a team with players from the NBA right now then I'd take KD over LBJ. Having said that I'm hoping that come the playoffs LBJ is once again the clear No.1 candidate.

In what way is Lebron on a different level in your opinion?

Lebron affects the game in every aspect of the game. Durant might be a better shooter but thats it. He cant lockdown anyone on defense like lbj do and he cant run the offense like lbj do. Even jordan didnt won all years mvp. Its just the RL. If okc and heat faced up in the finals miami would win in 5.

Don't be a prisoner of the moment. Remember when Melo got ridiculously hot in April last year? Remember when LeBron went 7 games with >30 points on >60% FG%?

KD is rolling right now absolutely, but don't get carried away just yet.

When KD wins back to back titles and 4 league MVPs, then we can talk. Not to mention that LBJ still has the better all around game....though KD has undoubtedly improved in that respect. Time will tell of course...

Surprised to see such a thread created on the HEAT board (then again maybe not) but like someone said don't be a prisoner of the moment. As Heat fans we've had the pleasure to watch LBJ the past three and a half seasons, almost every game. This should be enough to answer the question that LeBron is better. I don't even entertain the thought because while the RS is nice the Playoffs is where the superior players are crowned. Then factor in three straight finals and the Olympics and there is no surprise he's taking it easier this year.

I was going to say almost the exact same thing.....ON A HEAT BOARD WE ASK THIS QUESTION? But he's entitled to his Thoughts, and I respect that...

Durant is the best right now and that is not a knock on LeBron, KD is just playing at a all-time great level right now. The gap is not wide between them at all, but Durant simply can't miss right now as he's playing with a new attitude. All LeBron has to do is to continue winning championships or simply beat KD in the finals ONCE AGAIN and remind people who LeBron James is.

I will say LeBron's scoring has been ridiculously down this year for his standards. This is in my opinion simply not good enough. With Wade's gimpy health and the bench's inconsistencies, there is no reason for him to average less than 28 ppg the rest of the way. His aggression at times this year has been very questionable. That guy out there in Oklahoma is coming to take his "spot" and it's up to him to do something about it.

Considering KD is just 25, and is close to eclipsing lebron already at this point, KD all day.

What have you done for me lately huh.

He needs to sustain that for a few seasons before I give him that nod. It's why it took a while for lbj to take it from Kobe.

Such a shame to see a question like this on board. Lebron will never be appreciated no matter what he does or where he goes. Was going say more , but fucik it why.

Lebron is not only still the best player in the NBA ... he has done nothing but widen the gap between him and everyone else.
