Re: Please critique my analysis
All it takes is one guy to get hurt, one surprise team making a playoff push that lacks a center or one team having their front court preform well below expectations and... boom, you have a market. Gortat is a solid starter player on a reasonable and expiring contract. Thinking we wont be able to move him is silly.

Re: Please critique my analysis
This is what I have.
PG: Dragic/Marshall
SG: Bledsoe/Goodwin/Brown
SF: Butler/Marcus Morris/Tucker
PF: Morris/Frye/Plumplee
C: Gortat/Len/Plumplee
Marcus Morris is a better SF then a PF. He can actually dribble and make a basketball move to rim.
I have Plumplee on that list twice because hes a filler if Frye or Len are unhealthy by Opening day.
I know IMO the only bad thing with that list is Tucker being 3rd on depth chart but honestly I would rather have Marcus Morris getting mins then Tucker hes more capable on offense can create his shot and better range. Eventually will trade Gortat and get something in return for him as well I would package him with Tucker. Slide M Beas to 3rd string if that happened.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.
Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

For me,
Dragic-Goodwin-Marshall
Bledsoe-Brown-Tucker
Butler-Morris-Green
Beasley-Morris-Frye
Gortat-Len-Plumlee
Oriakhi wont be signed unless there is a trade, Garrett the same.

Even this year GSW wanted him to be healthy so they gave him very limited minutes and he still got hurt.
I think GSW would prefer having a C who they can play 30-35 mins without having to worry about getting hurt every other play rather than keep Bogut who they'll have to constantly worry about.
We would be the obvious trade partner for GS if Bogut went down. We could package two expiring and a pick for Barnes and Bogut. GS would still maintain their cap flexibility next year while being able to compete this year. We would get another young asset/hopefully a stud for our future.

They could just start Barnes at the four and Lee at the five. Or they could start JO, which they recently signed.

And its kind of hard to paint Gortat as the "healthy alternative" when he missed a big chunk of the season last year and is apparently still struggling with the injury.
IMO Golden State is going for broke, they'd rather gamble on Bogut staying healthy than bring in a player of less ability that might be able to stay on the court.
I also dont think Gortat would be enough to snag Barnes anyway, even if Bogut was already out.

Lee at the 5 would be disastrous especially in the West with Cs like Dwight, M Gasol etc. That lineup won't work at all in the playoffs and probably not even in regular season.
JO isn't starting material imo. He's too old now, let's see if he even stays healthy for them.

Re: Please critique my analysis
I'm guessing you didn't look up the stats on Lee at center. 82 games, their third most used lineups had Lee at center, and that line up did quite well. Highest +/- at +75, and a 62% win. They also have Ezeli, who has started and could start.
The guessing on JO seems silly. I don't see why he couldn't start a few games against bigger centers that Lee would have a tougher time with. However, the flipside of that coin is that those bigger centers would have a tough time guarding Lee if he is fully healed.
Overall, if Bogut goes down(when he goes down), GSW will not be in a desperation mode for a center IMHO.

Re: Please critique my analysis
Gortat ended up actually hurting our draft pick anyway. Crazy going down to old threads and seeing what people thought at that time about this team.jazzfan1971 wrote:#29 - Phoenix Suns
PG - Goran Dragic, Kendall Marshall
SG - Eric Bledsoe, Shannon Brown
SF - P.J. Tucker, Caron Butler
PF - Markieff Morris, Marcus Morris
C - Alex Len, Miles Plumblee
D - Channing Frye (if healthy), Archie Goodwin, Micheal Beasley, Gerald Green
I left Gortat off the roster. I did it on purpose. I think he's getting moved sooner than later. There is just no reason to have him on the roster, he's only going to make the draft pick worse and hinder the development of Len. I have no idea if Frye comes back or not, I suspect that Suns are hoping for a medical waiver and will push hard in that direction. Beasley and Green are kinda interesting, I could see either or both getting significant run and I have no idea who P.J Tucker is and Butler might not suit this team as much as Green or Beasley.
Phoenix has a little more talent than Philly. At least they can boast a starting PG. But, I think this year will be about developing youth more than anything. I expect they'll try hard to win games and will be at least mediocre on their home floor, but, I don't expect much beyond that. P.J. Tucker might be a nice fantasy sleeper as there might be a lot of folks like myself who are completely in the dark about him (even as a starter in 29mpg his stats weren't much to write home about though). Len is another guy who might be a nice sleeper pick.
Projected record: 21-61
