Metta + Beno to Orlando for Mo Harkless + 2014 2nd
Now that Melo is back to being our 4 we have a hole at the 3. Mo minutes have been cut & now he's starting to rack up DNP's. He has the type of game that would fit good with Melo. Would anyone do this?
Felton
Shump (or JR)
Harkless
Melo
Chandler

I was thinking about since there arent many PG's avaiable why not go after a combo guard... I mean felton is like a short version of a combo guard.... Enter in Tyreke Evans who has not fit in NO... A Bargnani/Felton for Evans makes sense for both teams.... NO gets rid of there 2 Guard glut and get rid of evans longterm contract , while the knicks upgrade at guard position.... And it also works ok for 2015 as felton was already going to take up 5 mil so the difference will be 5 mil extra as Evans makes 10 that yr...
Chandler
Anthony
Shumpet
Evans
Pablo
Looks ok to me
idk man... Felton will get 3.9 mil and Tyreke will get 10.7 mil that summer (according to ShamSports)... that 7 mil might mess up our plans. Plus I feel like Tyreke is overpaid. Any other players you could think of?
The problem is there are not many pgs available , but here is another try
NY- Lowry, Fields, Hayes
PHO- Bargnani, Shumpert
TOR- Okafur, Felton
Ny- gets a upgrade at the pg spot but has to take on 2 dead weight contracts of Hayes/fields who expire though same time 2015
Pho- The seem like a team that can use a stretch center and make it work, and they get Shumpert who they always have coveted
Tor- They make the move because Okafur is expiring and they remove fields/Hayes off the payroll
i'd do it.

The guy we play next to Melo needs to be able to shoot and Harkless isn't much different than Shump. Mo just hasn't shown much other than being a good offensive rebounder --- if he's available for Metta/Beno what would that say about him?
If we deal with Orlando it needs to be for Afflalo.
Something like Bargs/Shump/2nd for Afflalo/J-Nelson

In fact we should be looking to unload Smith and Felton to free up 2015. Again, exception is if it is for a guy making what they combine. That said I wouldn't be too surprised if Smith opts out any way for more $
On the subject, Shumpert will be due his raise that summer and unless the rules changed on the cap hold. If still true then he should a guy to look to move as well.
there's more to 2015 than 3 max players, if we have the chance to acquire quality players that stop us from getting a 3rd max cat so be it.
a quality sf like thad young or gordon hayward re would kill into our chances for a 3rd another max cat but would be more than an acceptable reason.

Although I love those two players, I don't think they would be enough for Melo to want to stay or even if he did, they wouldnt propel us even CLOSE to the promise land. Our only real hope at this point is 2015 Free Agency (or a rape trade for somebody like Rondo which is a pipedream.... we're not the Lakers)

Rondo isn't the type of PG Melo needs.
The best PG for Melo is one who can play PG but also hit an outside shot. Rondo can't shoot.
Everyone harps on Rondo's inability to shoot as if that meant anything during the times the Celtics were the dominant team in the Eastern Conference. Its all perspective. If you view Melo as more of a Kobe bryant type, yes, he needs PG that can shoot. If you view melo more like a Paul Pierce or Dirk Nowitzki than no he doesn't need that to win. He needs a floor general, a guy that can get shots for everyone else, including him and keep the offense flowing. I look at melo as the latter. Melo is a finisher, not a facilitator and he's at his best when you have PG that can constantly drive and kick. Let's not pretend that Rondo wasn't the starting PG on 2 Celtics teams that went to the finals (winning 1), also a game 7 of the conference finals, and dominated in the playoffs regularly. Shooting was not an issue and nvr has been. Interested to hear who you think melo would thrive next to if not one of the most cerebral PG's in the game in rondo?

not a huge rondo fan either. In fact, I only became convinced he may be the best PG to pair with Melo after watching how last season went for us. Watching how melo played with jkidd in the line up was a revelation. Jkidd just brings so much extra to the table that most pg's in the league couldn't. Rondo is jkidd 2.0 to me. Kidd wasn't a "shooter" until the tail end of his career yet he went to the finals twice with the nets. Rondo, much like kidd, can get you a bunch of triple doubles w/o being a shooter. He just knows how to play PG. Running an offense is so undervalued in today's nba. There are def PG's in the league that I would rather have from an excitement standpoint but short of cp3, i'm not sure there is a pg in the league that I would feel more confident and comfortable with then rondo. I KNOW you can win a championship with him, that he will understand time, score, situation and personnel and make the right plays.

Knicks fall just short of landing Andrew
"The Knicks made a strong late push to sign center Andrew Bynum before he chose the Pacers, his agent told The Post Saturday.
Knicks personnel director Mark Warkentien tried to arrange a meeting with Bynum and the Knicks staff, but it never materialized.
“The Knicks were very aggressive in the end,” his New York-based agent David Lee told The Post. “In the end, they did everything they could.”
Our front office has learned nothing.
Prepare yourself.
Shump and Bargs for Josh Smith
Tyson/Melo/Smoove/JR/Felton I hope they have metal detectors at MSG

You missed an important point, you saw Melo paired with Kidd when Kidd had an outside shot that needed to be respected. Rondo's doesn't. Teams can pack the paint against him.
I'm not claiming he was as good as Rondo, but Melo had Miller as his PG for the first part of his career. Miller is a good floor general, but couldn't shoot worth a lick. Teams would just pack the paint and clog things up for Melo while daring the rest of his team to shoot. Maybe it would have been different if the Nuggets had some shooters in those years, they didn't though.
Then he was paired with Billups and came close to making it to the finals. Billups was also a good floor general and had an outside shot that needed to be respected.
If the Knicks could get a good shooter at SF and SG to pair with Melo and Rondo, then it may work.

Anything that removes JR and Felton from this team is addition by subtraction. Those guys are scrub superstars. Have good games against bad teams and when we're blowing teams out, but are always huge negatives when it counts. Losers no one wanted and we signed them to 10 mil combined.
Neal for JR or Felton and I'll drive either to the airport.

The way the Knicks are playing right now with Shumpert out and expecting a pay day soo I would trade him to a playoff team in the West for atleast a 1st round pick. This is a very deep draft and we can get a good cost controlled player, possibly better than Shumpert. I get the team wants to compete but we arent competitive against Miami or Indiana. We need to start planning for future years to actually have a chance to win.

Wow, I disagree. Thad is exactly the "3rd option"on a championship team type player, especially with Melo.
He can guard West and Ibaka// and Lebron and Paul George. he can bring the ball up the court, rebound, block shots, score in the paint, and hit the 3. oh by the way, he's very low maintenance and doesn't need plays run for him. very good on ball defender, elite team defender. top 5 in steals in the league and is a glue guy.
One of the few availabe (maybe) players that is a definite upgrade from Shump.
Knicks can win a chip with Tyson/Melo/Thad/Timmy/
depending on the pt guard and bench and coach.
but I'm pretty sure we'll end up getting Josh Smith.

Tyson doesnt give a **** most of the time; is an injury prone and we cant rely on him for the future!!
Maybe he's playing this bad, because he wants out... so he can play for any real contender (but still, he can get a flu just when it matters the most come May/June time

Knicks gets:
Asik/Perkins
Houston gets:
Shumpert/Nick Collison OKC's 2014 1st round pick
OKC gets:
Tyson Chandler
I believe this to be a realistic trade. But it would leave the knicks no legitimate starting 3 and only expirings to try to get a pt guard---so I probably wouldn't go thru with it.
However, if our FO trades Bargs for Josh Smith like I think they will:
Asik/Kmart/Perkins
Melo/Smoove
Smoove/JR
THJ/JR
Felton/Prigs
might be a balanced team, but we lose flexibility and I'm not sure Asik is good enough.
