Re: Pacers Plan To Sign Andrew Bynum
When I initially heard this was going down I liked it for the pacers because if he is healthy in the playoffs they can bang low and post up in every playoff match-up for 60 min. West and Hibbert as starters with bynum and scola off the bench. Heat are going to regret choosing oden over bynum because bynum has already had a couple of double-double games with the cavs earlier this season coming off the bench. What's making me scratch my head is that he was holding out for a contract that pays him more than the veterans minimum and now he has settled for that while basically accepting a back-up role. If he wanted a better chance at starters minutes, he should have signed with the spurs especially with splitter injured. Splitter has started games at both center and pf the last two seasons for the spurs in most games but has pulled in 4th quarters and other key moments in favor of kawhi leonard and boris diaw alongside duncan in a small ball lineup. Bynum could easily have made the spurs rotation. I'd figure spurs would have signed bynum if it would only cost them the minimum but maybe they weren't interested especially with the stephen jackson locker room drama last season.

Bynum is the kind of guy who won't try unless he thinks it's worth it. On a team like CLE he probably just didn't see the point. With Indy I think he'll finally start trying again.
No way IND loses this year to MIA. They took them to 7 games last year and the Heat have gotten worse while IND has only gotten better.
with this move, I think Scola and probably Hill will be in the block for what Pacers really need: a starting caliber PG

Anything that was said either by bynum or his representatives about wanting starters minutes was a lie which I had figured from the start. He's a lazy **** who rather chill and play 15 mins a game on a contender and hopefully get a ring along the way. He clearly no longer has the drive to make something of himself like he did when he was younger, and he definitely doesn't have the passion to want to become great. Mark my words you will only see Bynum give his full effort a maximum of about 20 games from now until the end of the playoffs. Games where he MAY give full effort:
-His first game he plays as a Pacer
-Pacers vs Lakers in late February.
-Two remaining games Pacers vs. Heat
-Pacers vs Cavs in late March
-MAYBE a couple games in the first two rounds of playoffs but the competition is awful so I'm not even sure
-7 (or less) games vs. Heat in eastern conference finals.
-7 (or less) games vs whomever in finals IF they make it out of the east.

Not happening. Hibbert is a locked. He's a top 10 center.
Bynum is a top 3 Center

Larry Bird won't put up with that mess either.
Yea that's why I'm kind of shocked Bird would sign Bynum because Bird wouldn't put up with that mess, but if Bynum can't get it together with Vogel, Bird, West, Hibbert, and Granger, this will probably the last chance for Bynum.
NO SERIOUSLY...who wants to play in Cleveland?? No one....Bynumsprobably made his injuries out to be worse then they were so he didnt have to play and could get the F out of there

His knees are not as bad as you think...and a money leech? The NBA is a business its always been said it is....it isnt his fault teams decided to pay him a **** ton of money put a **** cast around him not be able to please him and then have to let him go.....bad managerial decisions....CLE and PHI not really great organizations now are they? The only reason either of the teams have been successful in the past 20 years is because they each had a superstar but couldnt fit a cast around the star to win...they suck....you cant blame bynum for not wanting to put any more miles on his legs and risk injury playing for teams that were going no where

Just to keep him out of Miami. He'll be a problem when he doesn't get minutes.

I don't get this. At all.

Pretty much. Indy just dropped a mil to buy the East, and ensure Miami can't pick him up later. If it pays off with a title, brilliant move by their front office!

Well, larry bird just went off on a reporter for bringing that up saying if we wanted to do that we would have been on his door step the moment he cleared waivers - why would we wait a month. Than the reporter countered that bynum lowered his contract demands and larry said well there are still a lot of contenders out there who could have offered him alot more money and minutes and he chose us over them. Bird said that pacers had brief conversations with bynums agent when the bulls intially waived him that went nowhere. He said the agent reached out to him in the last 48 hrs saying bynum wanted to play for them and said that they were the team that is in the best position to win now. Bynum hasn't confirmed this yet in person but he has made comments through his agent that seem to support this train of thought.

Great signing for 1 mil for the Pacers.
Hibbert/Bynum is a force. Reminds me of D12/Gortat & Shaq/old Zo

Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Re: Pacers Plan To Sign Andrew Bynum
Pacers are hedging their bet. At worst they lose one mil and Bynum rides the pine. At best he learns how to be effective without the lift he used to have.
This truly is Bynum's last shot, it's all in place for him to succeed. No more excuses about motivation...and even if he is motivated by the new situation, he has to prove to the Pacers he deserves minutes, requiring Bynum to bring out the best in his game and himself to make this work.
As a Lakers fan, part of me wants him to succeed but another part of me will always hearken back to those moments watching Bynum deliberately not give 100% on the floor, and taking that cheap shot on Barrea.

You're right, when those teams signed him it was because he gave them a heads up that he won't actually play, right? Give me a break. If you're asking teams to sign you, than be a man and do your job. We don't get paid to sit on our asses. He signed a new contract in Cleveland, it wasn't a case where he got hurt as he was playing.
So yes, I fully blame him for not 'risking' his knees for teams that are paying him millions for just that. Teams who bet their bottom line on their success by acquiring him - especially philly.
Anyways, hope you're an Indiana fan because you'll see the same act.

Re: Pacers Plan To Sign Andrew Bynum
I watched every game Andrew Bynum played in Cleveland. He is a shadow of his old self in terms of talent, but he's the same old Bynum in terms of character. Unless Hibbert and Mahinmi get into serious foul trouble, there will be no reason for the Pacers to give Bynum any minutes at all. Maybe they'll decide to use him for a few games if they want to rest Hibbert, but we'll see. As long as he doesn't f over the Pacers off the court, I think it will be worth the $1 Million just to keep him away from other championship contenders.

Over Dwight, M.Gasol, Noah, Hibbert, Love, Cousins, Horford, Drummond, Duncan and Al Jefferson?!? Don't make me laugh. Dude is not even top 10, let alone top 3. And that's before we get to his bad foot.
