Luol Deng:Chicago would never tolerate this Cavs locker room

Deng has seen how a team mired in losing since LeBron James left town wrongly caters to its young star players, even as they continue to undermine head coach Mike Brown at almost every turn. In Chicago, where Deng broke in and played nine-plus seasons, there is a winning culture where players are expected to act like professionals and understand that they will suffer the consequences if they step out of line.

As Deng recently told one close friend, “the stuff going on in practice would never be tolerated by the coaching staff or the front office back in Chicago. It’s a mess."

Deng was brought in to help clean it up when he arrived in a deal for Andrew Bynum on Jan. 7. But since then, he’s seen players get thrown out of practice, take off their uniform tops at halftime and threaten not to play, mouth off to Brown and generally act like spoiled brats. Entering Saturday’s game at Houston, the Cavs had lost seven of their last 11 games since the Deng trade. There is no accountability, as Dion Waiters found out when he was kicked out of practice last week but still got his usual minutes against the Knicks. Brown isn’t getting much help from GM Chris Grant, who is expected to be fired at season’s end because of the losing and problems in the locker room.

Maybe it'll get picked up on the on The KyrieTV network. It'll star "The Brand", hosted by Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen, and can run between "All About Me" and reruns of "The Decision."

I have trouble understanding why this is a story. I'm pretty sure I don't need Luol's close friends to tell me that Chicago is a better organization than us.

OIC Where else could this happen Gilbert needs to fire everyone and turn this crap over to basketball people or sell the team
Screw Ladouchebag forever and always
Screw most owners that are stupid and greedy
Screw the devil david stern
Screw the officials that handed the heat a championship
And screw the media that loves to tell us who we should love and why.

Nothing credible here, its completely unsubstantiated.

That said, this is approaching 'if there is smoke there is fire' territory, and there aren't a whole lot of ways to explain away their performance other than complete dysfunction.

This team needs a major organizational haul & fast. There's a lot of talent and assets on this team, but it will turn into dust until this organization gets straightened out. It's not Mike Brown's fault, it's not Dion Waiters or Kyrie Irvings fault. They're part of the problem but they're not the root. The team needs to let go of a lot of the people in the organization & construct a franchise that follows fundmantal values of an organization like accountability.

The people in charge let Lebron slip through ( blame goes to him for how he handled the affair, but leaving a franchise so out of whack can be understandable). They'll let Kyrie slip through too by not providing a vision to where this team can strive too.

Bulls fan here. Just wanted to chime in a bit. It's funny I came across this today as I was having a discussion about the Cavs with some friends of mine yesterday. I'm an NBA fan in general. I don't watch alot of Cavs games obviously but I just can't understand why they are struggling the way they are. My discussion yesterday was this team has enough talent especially in the Eastern conference that they shouldn't be as bad as they are record wise.

Also has a convo about Irving. As great as he is individually, it doesn't seem like he's taking the next step that players of his ability usually do. He doesn't seem to be making his team better. He's almost becoming similar to Melo. 2 outstanding players individually but lacking some of the other intangibles that are needed to be a true superstar. What's the general feeling on this board regarding the teams struggles? Is it more on the coach or the players?

Unfortunately I think this is pretty legit. Im not buying into the Kyrie wants out stories, but this team is a mess and the two young guards are right at the middle of it.

Well played. It would probably need an X rating with Sheen and Lohan though.

Yeah Kyrie freezes Dion out whenever they are on the court together. Dion doesn't always rotate over when Kyrie gets beat. It happens too often. Maybe I'm old school but if I'm the owner I explain to both of them that I sign the paychecks and I expect them to be professionals.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.
