This is why we might have to hold on to Ariza. The best scorers in the NBA are threes. Ariza might be the best defender of SFs in the league. Dude was locked in from the start.

It all means nothing if we lose to the Blazers. ;)

Yeah he's a big weakness for them. Adams is the only other legit big body they've got and he's too raw to completely take over Perkins's minutes right now.

Perkins is OKC's one big weakness IMO. He's a net negative on the court and his contract ties up a lot of their cap. You could argue his extension is one of the reasons they felt they couldn't afford to keep Harden.

If Adams matures, they'll be good moving forward. In the meantime, they're going to have match up issues facing teams with size inside.

the good & the bad. The good is that Wall has been in a lil bad shooting slump/passive playing drought and I think he broke out of that in the 2nd half and will be more aggressive again. The bad is that Lillard has been in a huge slump but seems to be breaking out of it tonight also.

Should be a great game for the .500 mark and I will ahead of time put it 110% on Wall. He shouldve broken out of the slump, he's finally an All Star, we are beating good teams, we are home, Lillard made team USA, and Lillard started over him in the team USA stuff in the offseason. Its time to stop taking a back seat and to wipe the floor with your peers while leading your team over .500

Wall says he does listen to what people say about him so I hope he's reading this. Stop not wanting to talk about the .500 mark. That goes for the whole team. They act so scared about it and hope they win so they dont have to talk about it. Instead you should own it and attack it. Go attack it, attack Lillard, get over the .500 mark, show why youre an All Star-#1 pick-Max guy, and take us to the next level. The time is now

why give him credit for something that should be easy to determine? No one is saying to bring Wall in when things are great or someone else is playing great. People want him in when things are bad and the O is stagnant

John Wall is just the 3rd player in the last 10 seasons to have at least 15 points, 15 assists and 6 steals in a game.

and the other 2 are...?

A quick check of BR says Chris Paul (six times!) and ... wait for it ... Brevin Knight. Seriously.

I feel a lot more confident with Wall and company having to beat a tough team like Portland to get above .500. But I'm a secret rip ciry fan so won't mind terribly if they win.

and Gortie with best +/- again.

KD with -16. You don't see that often.

Gortat's a net huge plus. http://82games.com/1314/1314WAS.HTM

Wall's +14.8 and Gortat's +14.1.

The haters are flat wrong. I think Wizards fans mostly don't know how to evaluate a player objectively.

http://82games.com/1314/13WAS15.HTM

Look at points per 100 possessions with Gortat on and off the court. The Wizards are 10 points better offensively with Marcin on the floor. They also hold opponents to 4 fewer points allowed defensively when Gortat plays.

He's a .565 eFG shooter. His percentages are great on close shots, as well as on long possessions.

Not to mention Gortat's frequent double doubles. He is a good player overall.

What needs to happen is for Ted/EG to recompense the draft pick they traded; and to trade or some how enable Maynor to make good. Those two things would make Gortat's contributions rightly appreciated. He's helping A LOT.

No, I think it's time. The Wizards are due. Finally, they will be over .500.

Wall's going to get calls from now on. The defense is for real. The Wizards are better than Portland. They will win.

Riiiiiiiiight. Like when Wall rescued the offense in the first half. :o

I agree about Gortat -- he's nowhere near the defensive presence that Okafor was, but he's overall a quality player. I enjoy having him on the team, just hate the acquisition cost.

Good game, but there is no such thing as back-to-back games in the playoffs. It's nice to knock off a good team on a long road trip on the second night of a back-to-back, but I'll wait for different circumstances before becoming impressed.

I think that is the thing that sticks in most folks craw. That and the lack of FC depth - especially since we knew we had an issue coming into the season.

I am going to pull a millie and say, "but we are talking about the playoffs..."
