Our big man prances around town in tunics and Capri pants. Our enforcer. Let that sink in.

Felton & Tyson's return from a 3rd team could still nab us Kyle Lowry. Maybe? Please?

Re: Please trade Chandler!!!!
I've been suggesting that they explore a Chandler trade since before the season started. Of course that was because my belief that Chandler would be a big trade asset. Nowadays? Not as much asset wise obviously.

It's not even about his defense. I think he is a huge liability on offense. It's 4 on 5 everytime.

My suggestion to Knicks fans is to put down your mood swings and put on your thinky cap and rationally consider that Tyson's good moments will never outweigh his value as a trading chip. The guy is simply not a lock-down, clutch player any longer. Ship him out and get something to build with NOW!
The problem really is that Tyson was, in his prime a platoon big man. He split time with Haywood in Dallas and that's how they won together. Even without Haywood (got hurt) he had Mahinmi behind him. Tyson needs to be limited to 28 minutes per game to be effective. Woodson just puts him out there for 30+ and sub-par energy is what you get.
Sadly I cannot find the article, but Chandler and Haywood spoke about the advantages of having both of them on the court, that they could take more chances and play with higher intensity.
Without a guy behind him, Chandler does not have that same ferocity. In Dallas he was part of the recipe, in NY he is the #2 leader. BIG DIFFERENCE. If Chandler and Amare, for example had an agreement to platoon the center position, both could be much better off.
Woodson will never realize that just because someone is a starter, does not mean they have to play starters minutes.

GOOD POST.
One thing we've seen repeatedly is Tyson either talking about the lack of help or showing a frustration right there on the court at being the last line of defense.
This is something I highlighted last year when I pointed out Tyson was showing signs of exasperation over being expected to shut down the paint when his teammates where basically letting everyone into the interior.
On the one hand, he has always been fundamentally correct on the point that you can't really expect to put up a stellar team performance defensively if you leave it up to one man in the paint to defend the basket.
But on the other hand, that is his job, so even if we sucked at perimeter defense he can't really complain about fulfilling the role he is paid to execute.
What it really comes down to is we neither have the perimeter D, nor does Tyson really stack up as the last resort on defense.
He just is not consistent enough in that role. That management still does not stock the roster with defensive-minded players will make his job harder, but it is still his job.
As for Woodson, he treats everything as a "Starter" role instead of addressing balanced, tier balanced roster management as you're inferring from the Dallas era. Tyson is strictly a 25 minute player, not a full-fledged starter. You need more front-line presence than Tyson alone.
As long as the Knicks proceed with the premise that Tyson is rock solid defensive anchor, the longer we'll flounder as a defensive team. He is nothing more than a piece, but preferably a trading piece.

Yup! I think one under-rated facet of the "small" line up is that we are functionally more similar to that Dallas team. Chandler has "help" in the form of Shumpert and Prigioni (playing rolls of Kidd and Marion) whereas in the conventional line up, there is Bargnani being out-quicked by his man, Felton being exposed more (without Prigs in the starting 5)
Any assistant coaches in Dallas looking for a head coaching gig?
I still don't agree with the "trade Chandler" contingent unless it really yields something fantastic. I think Chandler can be talked into an extension here in NY, but then again he is another "highest bidder" type so I might eat those words. I don't want 10 million going to him in 2015. There is a reason Elton Brand, a terrific workhorse of a PF in his day, can't go anywhere in the playoffs. He always wants that highest pay check.

The Knicks have no inside game. They don't get Chandler involved at all. Fans scream at him every time he doesn't get a block, rebound...it doesn't work that way on defense. Think Jeremy Tyler did more damage in 8 minutes than Chandler did in the entire game.

I just don't see how this game falls on TC... You can't give Battier open 3's like that, you can't let LeBron and Wade look like they put in cheat codes.
Heat are a top team for a reason, and their purpose was to stop the Knicks thinking they had Miami's number. Knicks were unable to stop them (refs always are on LeBrons side, next reason please). We were in a shoot-out and got out-shot.

Tyson did have 11 boards, 2 blocks. Its just not easy when he's the only big out there and has no help. Very few bigs can carry the entire front line every game on defense.
But he still should be traded since this team is going nowhere and Tyson is too old to be part of the '15 rebuild.
Sell high, sell high.

sure but he's going against the heat, who push out a bunch of creampuffs for a front line, he should have scooped up 30boards. Hibbert looks like superman going against the heat's front line, tyson looks like Juwanna Mann

What can we sell high for though? We can only sell high if there is a bidder at the table willing to pay.
Could Thunder benefit from Jackson, Sefelosha, Perkins for Udrih, Chandler and Alderich? Sure. But they wouldn't make that move because they'd lose their premier defensive wing.
