Independent league for learning the CBA

TL/DR:
The idea behind NBA Front Office is to mimic the job of a real-life GM as much as possible. All rules of the CBA apply unless specified otherwise, and you have to negotiate contracts with a greedy agent.

That makes it the most complex fantasy league - you'll need to understand terms like July Moratorium, Qualifying Offer, or Repeater Tax.
(Which doesn't mean you must be a CBA expert from day 1. Au contraire: I created this league a decade ago, and I still learn something new every day.)

At the same time, that makes it the simplest league - you don't need to memorize any imaginary salary caps or extension rules, because we replicate exactly what is covered by the media every day. You don't need to optimize your team composition for any specific scoring format, because everything we do has the single goal of making the league 100% realistic and parallel to the real-life NBA. Need proof? Look how short the rules are!

By now we've grown to become a unique community: some GM's write really cool blogs, we occasionally share some laughs as a FB group, track our roots on a map, and celebrate every historical moment with epic graphics! Plus if you aren't quite sure when to renounce your TPE or how to comply with the Stepien rule, you can choose to start as an Assistant GM for a while!

Three openings right now!

Getting more realistic every day, too. Latest developments include an edge in free agency if vast cap space available, repeater tax, renouncing exceptions, no-trade clauses, and discounts when resigning ageing legends.

Oh, and one thing I prolly haven't stressed enough before: the sense of community is also much stronger than in other leagues, with live events via Google Hangouts On Air, award voting, our own Facebook group, never ending brainstorming to make the rules even more realistic, people writing diaries about their teams' progress, and even a simple ESPN fantasy league on the side.

It's been a while, so let me give you an update:

The league is going strong, all new additions panning out nicely: the hard cap and repeater taxes are already influencing everyone's strategies etc. Also, you can really smell the long-term vibe about this project: pretty much all 30 GM's have been very active over the last few months!

That being said, at present at least OKC, Phoenix, and the Clips are looking for an Assistant GM with a solid chance of becoming the main man after this season is over. (Of course we'll still hold the usual competition once the GM job becomes available, but "I'm the current AGM of the team" is an argument hard to trump!)

In other news, this spring we're introducing another unique aspect. The players' free will - thus far simulated by a special formula - is going to be replaced with the human factor! Enter our army of greedy Agents! They are a completely separate bunch and compete between themselves to top the leaderboard, while seamlessly representing the players' best interest when negotiating with the teams.
