The Wizards could say the same thing. Three of their past four losses have come on back to backs (Detroit, Utah, La Clippers).

The "acquisition cost" being probably a mid-first round pick? If you believe that Gortat is a "quality player" who is clearly helping the Zards win games. And maybe someone they resign at the right price, and he becomes a solid contributor for the next 3-4 years. Then maybe the acquisition cost wasn't all that high. You can't get something for nothing.

If at an OK salary he is a solid contributor, for some time to come, to something more than middling results (near .500, bounced in 1st round), then the 1st rounder is a perfectly acceptable price to me. There are a lot of qualifiers there, and this team has a habit of giving away picks/opportunities. Sure, every pick doesn't turn out (boy, do we know about that), but the more chances to look at/try out young talent, the more chances to uncover a gem, and I think this team still needs an influx of talent to bump it to the next level.

I thought he played very good defense and took smart shots. He has his WTF moments but this was nice to see out of him. Hopefully a major confidence booster. If we can squeeze 2-3 more minutes a game out of him it should help Wall immensely down the stretch.

Shout out to Webster too, he did a solid job in the 1st half. I thought Seraphin was decent too, booker missed a couple easy ones. Our bench actually looked serviceable tonight.

I wanted them to resign Temple this year but have been disappointed in his play this year.

But starting 3-4 games ago, his shot started finding better form. He starting letting it go with more confidence. He let two go this last game that looked great. If he can keep raising his game, thats going to help a lot.

But Wall's passes looked amazing. I can remember seeing him hit people with that kind of timing and that kind of needle threading. If he is going to be able to keep doing that, lot of players are going to look better. They might even be able to get Ves going.

All because of Wall, the team feels like it is in reach to have some upside again.

No, I think it's time. The Wizards are due. Finally, they will be over .500.

Wall's going to get calls from now on. The defense is for real. The Wizards are better than Portland. They will win.

There we go... like the positive attitude !!! Great game tonight !

The game they lost to the Clippers convinced me that the Wizards are extremely athletic on the wings. Their big men even scored efficiently, and were only defeated by the refs. The Wizards have a good chance to win against uptempo teams. Doc Rivers said, "That was a hard game". He thought his team played well, and was just glad they won because, "They're (the Wizards) a good team."
The other game, when Washington shut down Curry and the Warriors on the perimeter; and held them to 85 points in their house was a great win.

I am optimistic about the peak wins and that at .500 the Wizards are improving. I predicted this win over OKC. I think they will win at better than .500 as long as they stay healthy. Some bench players are making better contributions.

Fun game to go to. Just a real good team effort all the way around.

This team is close to being legit real good. Wall is a star, as is Beal. Ariza is a lockdown defender(you hold Durant to 8 of 21 you take that everytime). Nene/Gortat is as solid a front court as you'll find. We just need to shore up the bench.

Still not a Wittman fan though, even some of his decisions in this game were bad(like not calling a timeout earlier during that big Thunder run in the 2nd quarter), but I guess we're kinda stuck with him if we keep winning.

We'll beat the Blazers tonight and go up over .500, and stay there the rest of the season.

Yo -- AWIZZINGBULLET.

You want to get a game thread going for tonight's match-up?

If you checked out the "getting over .500" thread, you'd know that I'm keeping this avatar until the Wizards get over the hump.

And on that note, until the Wizards get over the hump, every time I see pine's avatar the fear of getting Evadney humped will cross my mind.
