Wall goes for 40+ in a statement game over his US Basketball snub.

I doubt it. He's already stated that he won't get into a personal battle with Lillard. I don't think he goes into this game with a personal agenda that could be detrimental to the team. He's about team more now than at any other point I think . That could result in the Blazers getting hit up for one of Wall's 10+ assists performances though...

BTW, all the Blazers fans seem to think that Batum will guard Wall most of the night. I hope Wall truly attacks him. He cant let big guys guard him. He should blow right by him

I think we win a close one tonight. We can hold down the perimeter, but Aldridge in the paint worries me. Nene will need to be on his game tonight.

Batum is fairly athletic...and very long even if Wall blew past him Batum has excellent length to make ground. I assume in such a scenario Matthews would be on Ariza and Lillard on Beal. If Lillard is on Beal, I think Beal could have a good night...

John says the right thing a lot but I think that's just polish. He can't be happy that Lillard made it over him. I wouldn't. His teammates shouldn't like that either. I would be ok with Wall going all 'Melo tonight. Plus, if Portland's wings stay home on Ariza/Beal/Webster, it wouldn't be entirely out of the offensive philosophy for Wall to look for his own first rather than the kickout.

Blazers fan here.

This should be a great game. Portland has struggled lately but they can really score the ball. If you can defend LA one up and slow him down I could see you guys winning this one in more of a defensive game.

Dame vs Wall will be fun. Despite the all star and team USA selection Lillard is a winner. If wall really goes all out at him the Blazers will find a way to take advantage of his aggression.

Also as mentioned Batum will likely defend wall. Batum is the closest thing to a shut down defender we have and plays really well against quick PGs...not that you can completely stop a guy like Wall but Batum will slow him down.

My prediction is 102 - 94 Portland.

I don't know. He got his All-Star ticket, I really think he's about getting several games above .500 starting with tonight. Not making the U.S. team is probably one of those things he'll use as fuel to strive for more, but I think it's more an issue for another time.

Getting over .500 against another league elite would be as impressive and noteworthy as a 40-point outburst IMO...

That's not good - maybe Seraphin can continue his streak of reasonably good games...

Yeah, Nene's going to have to stay out of foul trouble. Booker would have no chance of covering him by himself, so the Wiz would have to double him - which would mean leaving someone uncovered, and the Blazers will take advantage of that.

What's that - Booker's out? Shocker. I think this is a game for Vesely and Seraphin - both will have to contribute.

I'd like to see Wall vs Batum. I think Wall prefers playing against bigger slower guys rather than waterbugs, so I think Lillard ends up covering Wall down the stretch - if there is a "down the stretch" part of the game.

Agreed - Portland can score so many ways - we can't stop them; we can only hope to contain them.

I'm unfamiliar with Portland's lineup, could seraphin be better than Booker against their line up? Or will not having Booker there leave a hole in this team?

They use Freeland and T-rob I believe. Booker is a more refined version of T-rob so losing his energy may hurt. Hope Jan make's the most of this opportunity. Seraphin is going to be stretched out I think if he's guarding Freeland.

Hope he starts this game like he did last game.

Feed the post with more of those awesome no look well timed assists. That start to the last game was the best I think I have ever seen him start a game.

I'll take 14-15 assists and 16-18 pts over 40 pts and 6 assists any day.
