They're paying a top 10 center in the NBA 8 million dollars to sit on the bench and get 0 minutes. That's absolutely unacceptable.

With the way they've been treating good players who needs the ball or minutes to be effective like dirt, they disgust me.

That's to be decided on whether or not they can get anything in return for him.

They're trying to move him for value, but its not easy. Would the correct decision have been to not sign Dwight Howard?

1) It was a "have to" decision when they signed Howard. How could any team say no?
2) Given Asik's contract, they really need to make room under the team's cap if they wish to improve. They desperately need a 4 and some tough interior D. Asik is out with some "thigh injury" for the past few months, because he does not want to play backup minutes (as he was promised starter minutes when he signed).
The only way to rectify this is to trade Asik. Yes, it's easier said than done, but at this point the "holding out" has really damaged the Rockets' potential deals. They have a very high value on a player who is going to make big money next year, and everyone knows the situation is bad in Houston. Who in their right mind would offer them a player like Rondo for Asik? Morey needs to figure out how his fantasy team can become a contender. And it all begins with trading Asik, even if he's trading "down" in his eyes. Get some bodies on your bench dammit

No disrespect to your armchair analysis, but many like you also questioned when they chose to blow up the previous lineup with seemingly very little in immediate return. Yet in 18 months time they turned a rebuilding team predicted to win approx. 25 games into a potential contender. And, according to recent metrics, the team is still currently ahead of the curve even with Asik sitting most of the season so far.
If that's not enough to earn your patience, remember this is also the management that held out on hastily moving a broken down McGrady/contract until they we're able to move that shell of a player for a veritable bag of assorted goodies that are still paying dividends to this day.
Again, not to douse your grim and dire assessment, but Morey and co. have more than earned my confidence in these matters.

LOL kudos to your very intelligent post buddy. Doesn't sound like armchair analysis at all when you mention things like metrics and goodies.

Touché.
I omitted details because I thought this was not the place for such verbosity nor did anything in your post prompt me to believe that you would be appreciative of said pedantry.

Sure thing kiddo. I'm always willing to help those in obvious need.

They are currently 33-17 in the Western Conference even though they have not had their entire rotation healthy for one game this season.
They are one of the youngest teams in the league.
They only have 4 players making over 2 Mil a year.
They have future cap space, possibly even near max, in the next couple years.
There seem to be a lot of posters on this site who hate the Rockets, for whatever reason. You can't argue with facts, though.

2 years ago Lowry & Kevin Martin were their 2 best players. Now they have Dwight Howard & James Harden, and have surrounded them with a bunch of talented young role players. If you dont think thats an amazing job, nothing is
