So that was 2008-2009. So once in 5 years? I think my point is that it just doesn't happen and we always throw it out there like it's a real option, but it just isn't.

Heck, I wouldn't know where to begin to even research that Carey. I'll take your word for its apparent rareness. My point was more centered around James getting Bledsoe to join him in mIami.

Suppose Bled lets it be known that is his intention? What then ?

If he just takes the QO you can't trade him unless he consents the move. This makes it extremely hard to find a good trade partner, so the most probable case is that the player spends the season with the current team and becomes a UFA.

If Bledsoe wanted to force his way out, especially without taking financial risks, his best shot is getting a sign and trade that is at least defensible for the Suns this summer.

Option #1
Miami makes an offer. Bledsoe signs offer sheet. We match.

Option #2
We offer Bledsoe the Max contract. Bledsoe refuses to sign max contract. This still forces Miami to offer a contract of at least three years if they want Bledsoe. We can choose to match Miami's offer instead of the Max contract. Basically Bledsoe can only sign our Qualifying offer.

Option #3
Bledsoe signs Qualifying Offer ($3.7M which is way undervalued).
Bledose is leaving money on the table. He risks injury and losing even more money. As Suns I would be reluctant to play him that season since you would rather develop other players. So he risks sitting on the bench for a year. Then Miami might not have room to sign him the following year. Other teams may offer him less since he was coming off of injury and didn't want to sign with the Suns.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Morri brothers sign their qualifying offers if extended by the Suns. That's roughly $4M each. Guarantees they get to stay with the Suns. If only extended to Markieff then what would happen?

I know many won't like it but think we should look at signing Bosh this summer. All rumors indicate that he has the highest chance of leaving Miami outta the big 3 and I think he would be a good fit for us.

He puts up pretty good numbers for being a 3rd option and he doesn't complain or whine about touches.

He can hit long jumpers and rebound. Hell he's even starting to be able to shoot 3s pretty good. He isn't bad defensively either. And he would bring some veteran leadership to the team. Oh and most importantly, he is actually capable of scoring inside too...

I know he will cost quite a bit but I think it could be worth it to upgrade our PF in such a great way. People bash on Bosh for not being as good as Wade or 'Bron but they forget that he's still a beast and was one of the best players in the NBA when in Toronto.

I don't think he's worth $20 million a season and I think that's what he is looking for. I think he's worth probably $14-15 million per year, but I don't want to be paying him when he's 34 or 35.

That is an interesting point bigfoot. I wonder if they would be willing to take less if we not only kept them together by signing both but added a guarantee that they couldnt be separated. Maybe like a no trade unless traded together clause lol. Even though that would hamper us if they would be willing to take a paycut in exchange for those contractual demands/safetys it could be interesting. I'm always about conserving cap!

If we are going to pay a player over $15 million a year this offseason it should be LeBron and LeBron only. Nobody else is worth it, not even Melo.

I don't think Bosh really cares about money that much anymore. I think we can get him for $14M/yr and Bosh will likely stay very effective even at age 34 and 35 cause he doesn't rely on his athleticism that much for most of his pts.
