Bobcats Look Into Trading For Evan Turner

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Feb 4, 2014 5:10 am

The Charlotte Bobcats have looked into acquiring Evan Turner, according to a source. No deal is imminent.

The Philadelphia 76ers are open to trading Turner for future assets.

Turner is averaging 18.1 points and six rebounds this season. He could potentially add the scoring punch the Bobcats need to reach the playoffs.

The Bobcats have first round picks that they could potentially offer.

Evan would be a good fit there if they could find a pure shooter to play the 2. If that happens, MKG needs to be moved

This is a stupid move for the bobcats if they trade anything valuable for him, they are basically committed to over paying him. Also I don't think turner would be that exited to play in charlotte unless they offered him a near max contract. Many GMs are skeptical that his stats are being inflated because of the abysmal supporting cast surrounding him and mcw. Turner may just sign his qualifying offer which is close to 7.5 million for 2014-15 season to prove he can maintain his #s and than cash in as a ufa in 2015 free agency. Also he can't be re-traded by the bobcats if he signs a qualifying offer becaus ehe would forfeit his bird rights. And if I'm philadelphia, I would expect nothing less for turner than Michael kidd-gilchrest.

Sure they have some first round picks they could POTENTIALLY offer. But will they? That's what will determine if this is a bad trade, or a horrendous trade for the Charlotte McBob's.

Yep, Turner for McBob, Biyombo, and Ben Gordon sounds about right. Then the Bobcats/Hornets can move Henderson to the bench for scoring and become better defensively.

Oh yes, that would be pretty awesome for that pick they owe us.

It never looks good. Even Stevie Wonder knows it looks awful.

Indeed. Turner and J-Rich for Ben Gordon, Biyombo and the Detroit pick. Charlotte can keep McBob for their playoff push. J-Rich will return after ASG to bolster the second unit.

They obviously don't love MKG. Only Bobcats fans would rather have MKG over Turner when the team is last in offense and actually a really solid defense. It's not like the defense would collapse with Turner instead of MKG. But the offense would be great.

Look if Charlotte can get this deal done with the Portland draft pick then they can use the Detroit pick for a scorer to replace Henderson. Plenty will be available from 9-15: James Young, Gary Harris, Zach LaVine, Rodney Hood.

The POR pick could rise to pick 24 by the end of the year.

Like Philly needs more first round picks.

If your the Bobcats and your even thinking about dealing your pick for a playoff run, go after Aaron Afflalo who can actually shoot and not Turner. I think Turner is a great player, but if the Bobcats acquire him, like others have said, then they need to deal MKG and potentially force fit a shooter with their pick.

Or, they can just deal for AA and not worry about any of that. I think Orlando would listen if you start talking a 2014 draft choice.

Well it'd be better than last, pretty sure. It'd be much better off, so that's great for us.
