Crane's negotiating rights period ended, now the Rockets can find a deal and present it to the judge and say here is what we found, we think it is reasonable, please allow us to accept it.

Word is Les just might buyout Crane which would be the path of least resistance.

And the judge can give him more time. My hope is they find Les package reasonable

The other thing I like is Led isn't stupid enough to overpay for the Astro's share of the station. Hopefully Crane loses money if he sells.

News!!! Time to bump the thread

A federal bankruptcy judge Tuesday placed the parent company of Comcast SportsNet Houston under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, clearing the way for the start of what could be a contentious, complicated path to make the troubled regional sports network a financially profitable concern.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur’s order came at the conclusion of a day-long hearing at which attorneys for Comcast and the Rockets asked that the case remain under bankruptcy court jurisdiction and the Astros asked that the case be dismissed.

Dismissal would have resulted in the almost certain demise of the 16-month-old network owned by the Astros, Rockets and Comcast, which is owned by a limited partnership known as Houston Regional Sports Network. Isgur’s order assures that the network will remain in operation while the three network partners work on a reorganization plan.

So...dragging out longer?

Should we start to be concerned about losing next season as well?

They will back in court this Friday. I think a trustee is going to be appointed or something that looks like progress

No way this deal gets approved or at least it shouldn't.

makes you wonder why Comcast is being so demanding of carriage fees for CSN when they have billions enough to buy TW.

The interesting part of the deal was the prior relationship with Charter.

More to do with the Astros and them saying that the apparent deals that are in place will do no good for them. Something about the new MLB CBA and eating into future player contracts. Well I don't know how to say it of than Jim Craine is the problem and it is just to damn confusing.

It's a matter of principle, man...

I live only a few miles away from Toyota Center. I should be able to watch the Rockets on TV. I should not have to use my laptop, iPad or iPhone to watch the Rockets. I should be able to watch them on TV.

That way my laptop is free to chat on our RealGM Rockets Game Threads, my iPad is free to surf for porn and my iPhone is free to buy whatever flowers, jewelry or day spa gift certificates necessary to placate the future Mrs. E since she will likely be totally pissed about what I'm using the other devices for at the time.

It's called "covering your bases." ;)

You can get a HDMI and split your computer screens that way you can surf and watch it on tv at the same time.

Doesn't sound like this is going to end anytime soon

CSN Houston owes $27 million each to Astros, Rockets, court records show
Posted on February 17, 2014 | By David Barron

The Astros and Rockets each claim they are owed more than $27 million in unpaid rights fees by Comcast SportsNet Houston, according to documents filed Monday in the network’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.

The teams top a list of the 25 largest unsecured claims against the network, totaling about $60 million, submitted in advance of a hearing today before U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur. Isgur is overseeing the Chapter 11 case filed against Houston Regional Sports Network, the parent company of the Astros-Rockets-Comcast partnership.

Today’s hearing will be the first of several in which attorneys with Haynes and Boone, the Dallas and Houston law firm hired to represent the network, will present routine business requests to the judge to keep the company in business while it reorganizes.

The Astros, who own 46 percent of the partnership, and Rockets, who own 31 percent, are by far the largest unsecured creditors. The Astros, who were not paid their rights fees for the final three months of the 2013 season, are owed $27,898,563, and the Rockets, who have not been paid this season, are owed $27,683,693.

There ya go! This is awesome for me. I'm really a Raptors fan and my little bro loves watching the Rockets mostly b/c of Lin and Harden getting him into b-ball. Nonetheless you should throw out the cable and save yourself a lot of bucks.
