One/two more players away?? Who is it? How do we get him?
This year's team reminds me of the 08-09 team with felton, raja, okafor, diaw, Wallace, etc... They finished 34-48..The following season they traded okafor for chandler, and bell for Stephen Jackson finished 44-38..
I have a feeling that this team will finish with close to the same record as the 08-09 team with about 33-39 wins... This team must act NOW rather than later to add a key piece. It cant be a marquee free agent, because Kemba has to get paid after next season.. All of these eastern conference teams are throwing in the towel. These GMs want to be soooo bad for the upcoming draft that they are willing to do the dumbest of trades just to have cap room/draft flexibility.
1.Obviously our wings are under the microscope when it comes to underperforming (I wish JTaylor didn't get hurt).
2. A defensive big with length to pair with al jefferson?? (biz is not the answer).
We don't have to make a big splash, Stephen Jackson and Tyson chandler were throw-aways by their former teams before joining charlotte. and when chandler got hurt, Theo Ratliff and nazr were HUGE in that playoff season. Players like that are easy pickups.
WHY IN HELL DO WE STILL HAVE BEN GORDON'S expiring contract rotting on our bench... no need for the cap space because charlotte is not the best spot for FAs.
Portland's pick which will be in the late 20's can net us a decent veteran (I like the evan turner idea).
We're gonna lose our pick...
We'll get Detroit's pick (which we should keep)
WHATS YOUR SOLUTION????..

P.s. this is coming from someone who would rather be on a 1st 2nd round treadmill, than trying to rebuild every year and still maintaining laughing stock status... time to change the culture

player to target -> klay thompson
how do we get him? hendo + zeller + biz + detroit + portland + mj's new baby + autographed ping pong paddle by cho
player to target -> gordon hayward
how do we get him? overpay like crazy in the summer after clearing as much cap space as possible
player to targer -> sharpshooters in the draft
how do we get him? package picks to move up and secure the best wing shooter possible

Kemba>>>Felton
Hendo+Sessions>Bell
McBob+Tolliver>unmotivated Diaw
Al>>>Okafor
Only thing that team had was Wallace, but MKG is an impact defensive player already.
I think we're a lot better than that team, but regardless, 36 wins is likely to get us in the playoffs, 40 will likely keep us away from Miami and Indy in the 1st round.
I don't disagree, but Kemba flies so damn far under the radar, the thought of paying him should dissuade us from pursuing a star next to him and Jefferson.dre4bobcats wrote:This team must act NOW rather than later to add a key piece. The lack of three point shooting definitely hurts our wings. Even if we trade for a combo guard like Mo Williams to replace Sessions, that would do the trick, as Tolliver has been automatic. Best case scenario is upgrading Hendo without giving up much.dre4bobcats wrote:1.Obviously our wings are under the microscope when it comes to underperforming (I wish JTaylor didn't get hurt).
Biz is the answer, but Clifford is too thick to try it.dre4bobcats wrote:2. A defensive big with length to pair with al jefferson?? (biz is not the answer).
So who's your Stephen Jackson? I'm thinking someone like Deron Williams for cap space would be amazing. Brooklyn is so far gone, they need to just hit self destruct.dre4bobcats wrote:We don't have to make a big splash, Stephen Jackson and Tyson chandler were throw-aways by their former teams before joining charlotte. and when chandler got hurt, Theo Ratliff and nazr were HUGE in that playoff season. This team just signed Al Jefferson last summer. But to answer your question plain and simple: Ben Gordon is garbage. No team should want him unless they are blatantly tanking.dre4bobcats wrote:WHY IN HELL DO WE STILL HAVE BEN GORDON'S expiring contract rotting on our bench... no need for the cap space because charlotte is not the best spot for FAs.
If Turner is available for Portland's pick, I immediately take that deal and shop him around for a better pick because there will be one team that offers more. I personally would not offer any more.dre4bobcats wrote:Portland's pick which will be in the late 20's can net us a decent veteran (I like the evan turner idea).

The ping-pong paddle seals it.
In all seriousness, I would offer this, but there's no way Golden State would accept. Barnes would be available for much cheaper too.
Hayward hasn't impressed me. I'm not willing to pay eight figures a year for the dude. Hayward is shooting 31% from deep this year, which was supposed to be his breakout y. I'll pass.fatlever wrote:player to target -> gordon hayward

The problem is Thompson makes so little. Hendo alone earns over double his salary.
It has been written...

I compare it to that team because of how they always fought but came up short against good teams. and they will finish with a similar record..But think about it, the east was WAY tougher back then than it is now. This team would not get 40 wins against the 2009 east.

Hmmm. A two guard from a dysfunctional franchise, who has been suspended, sat on the bench by coaches, but has also had spots where he looks like the best player on the court.
Drum roll please lol...
J.R. smith is a big gamble, but would not cost us a lot... it would pay off in the right system.. Dude has played for George Karl, Mike Woodson.. coaches who offensively have no systems or structure, which allows him to display his bad habits (especially woodson with his 95% iso plays)..
waits to get boooed off stage...lol

You guys gotta put your Fred Sanford hat on lol...find something valuable in the junk pile... Klay Thompson and Gordon Hayward is treasure hunting..Unless you want to unload kemba for them and start sessions at the point. (That's the kind of player both teams would demand in return).
What do you guys think about Jordan hill on the lakers???.. he would be the perfect frontcourt partner to big al, makes 3.5 mil a year, plays very good D, and gets you a double double without demanding the ball. I would give up that Portland pick for him..
Jordan Hill, Thad Young, Evan Turner, J.R. smith, Jameer nelson, Rodney Stuckey, Sefolosha, omer asik, Jared Dudley.
Those are the players I had in mind... something a late first, or early 2nd, or an expiring could land you...(Without unloading the Detroit pick owed to us)
Players who could flip the wins and losses around, not cost a lot, and also keeps this team a playoff team at least for the next 2-3 years (as the east continues to get better through the draft...which is a 3-4 year plan IMO)

and he isn't a liability like Gordon. Pelicans have to be tanking by now. Wonder if they'd give him up for some kind of pick swap.

I would be interested in a J.R. Smith experiment if it could be had cheaply.

I think 08-09 Bell would be a great fit for our current team. 3 & D.
Diaw is a talented version of McBob and the 08-09 Charlotte version averaged 15pts at 49% fg, 41%3pt, 5.9 rebs and 4.9 assists. It was the best statistical return of his career. His rebounding stats weren't great but he blocked out well to give Crash the rebounds.

am I alone in thinking that Larry Brown choked in that final series?
Making our whole defence concentrate on Howard but allowing everyone to go nuts seemed stupid to me.
Not saying we should have won the series, but we should have won 1 bloody game

I've been pimping Dunleavy Jr, Jared Dudley, Francisco Garcia, Dorrell Wright, Reggie Bullock in the trade thread
Also recently floated young Cory Joseph, who people poo-pooed, but who put up 18,4,3,4 starting for SA tonight.
Not sure why this thread isn't in the trade thread?

they can fall really quick out west. Every game is tough out there. They'll be bottom 5 before you know it.JDR720 wrote:Biz Gilwalker wrote:JDR720 wrote:Anthony Morrow from the Pelicant's would be a good pickup he can shoot and play SG and he is cheap
