I feel every great player gets breaks here and there on their road to success whether they win a title or not, a lot of it based on luck.
What if ray allen doesn't hit THE shot in game 6 against the spurs? How is lebrons legacy viewed? He loses that finals and is now 1-3 on that stage. With the pacers coming into their own and many people picking them as the team to beat you could easily see a scenario where the heat "only" win one title.
What if Robert Horry doesn't hit the shot against the kings in 02'? They lose that series and shaq and Kobe only have 2 rings. Many people say they're a disappointment with 3. That's not the only one... Roberts big shots in the playoffs over the years have had massive implications on the legacies of many all time greats(shaq, hakeem,Duncan,Kobe).
What if one of the worst calls ever in the 94' EAst semis doesn't happen? The bulls win that series and potentially go to the finals . How much is Pippens legacy better if he got to the finals without mike? How much is mikes legacy worst off if the team went to the finals without him?
You can play the woulda coulda shoulda scenario for lots of different players and teams. At some point you have to judge it based on what actually happened. KG and Nash have gotten their fair share of breaks like any other great players

Honestly I'm sick and tired of people thinking that everyone who advocates for KG is making excuses or playing what-if scenarios. I'm not. When I think of KG i think of a 15 time all star, 9 time All NBA, 12 time All Defensive team, 4 x Rebounding Champ (4 straight seasons), All Star Game MVP, NBA MVP, DPOY, and NBA Champ. Most seasons in a row averaging 20/10/5 at 6 (broke Larry Birds record of 5). Played on 6 50 Win teams, 2 60 win teams. Made 4 CF, 2 Finals, and is 1-1 in the finals. I acknowledge that KG didn't make it out the first round for 7 straight years in one of the toughest Wester Conferences ever. That is why I don't place him higher than Duncan, Shaq, Kobe. However, you have to acknowledge that Garnett is the ONLY player in history to play for a team that lost 5 years worth of draft picks for trying to illegally sign Joe Smith(not marbury, not billups, not an actually productive player but Joe Smith mind you..). If you can show me one other star player who had that circumstance please show me. That's not an excuse that's something that should be taken into account. GM incompetence is a very real thing. It's not a coincidence the best players of all time all played for organizations that were run greatly by their GM's.. If you take KG off those Wolves teams they would have trouble winning 20 games tbh.
