Houston Sports Radio

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Tue Feb 11, 2014 2:23 pm

As a Rockets fan who gets frustrated with the intense Texans focus on the airwaves I have to say that I greatly enjoyed what I just heard on 790.

Daryl Morey was on and he and Adam Clanton were just mocking the hell out of Lance Zerlein for his lack of basketball knowledge and his singular focus on the Texans. Zerlein was being a good sport about it, but he was just getting ripped up!

Daryl was asking him if the Rockets should draft Johnny Manziel to play PG, explaining to him that there is no Franchise Tag in the NBA and lots of other nice comments. My favorite comment was early on where Morey said something like "what we need is more NFL draft talk on Houston radio."

It was very nice to hear.

790 is really the only chance of hearing Rockets talk. Both Matt and Charlie do a pretty good job keeping the Rockets in the rotation but the rest of Houston radio is garbage in terms of the Rockets.

I used to like Fred and AJ but they seem totally out of their element when discussing basketball. Same goes for most of 610.

I'm not a big football fan and it's frustrating to hear nothing but football talk when the Rockets are playing so well.

Rockets Tuesday... when they said that it made me happy... but then I was kinda pissed because there have been a LOT of Tuesdays since this season started.

Maybe because 790 broadcasts the Rockets games? It's good for business to talk about them. When 610 broadcast the games you heard a lot more basketball talk there but not since the Rockets made the switch.

Well Football is king not just in Houston but in Texas.

Oh my God He Who Shall Not Be Named fans are right they want nothing to do with him. They now want to draft Manzel to replace him.

No doubt about it, but the Rockets are relevant and good and still we hear nothing from the other stations. It's also clear these other guys are so caught up in the NFL and don't really understand the NBA outside of typical soundbite type things.

All they talk about is gambling and NFL mock drafts. It's lame.
