Is he eligible to join the team immediately? I may have to attend the HS state tourney now. Kostas+Diamond Stone could actually be better than Wilson+Stone.

Found some interesting quotes from an article published back in November.

Regarding Kostas:
“I think he’s going to be the best of our family,’’ Giannis said before Saturday night’s Bucks game against Toronto at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. “He’s the best shooter in the family and he’s athletic like all of the Antetokounmpos.

Giannis on Thanasis joining the Bucks:
Asked if he would like Thanasis to be drafted by the Bucks so they could be teammates again, Giannis laughed and said, “No. No. Keep him far away, far, far away.’’

And why’s that?

Giannis laughed again and said, “He plays my position.’’

Transfer Rule Summary

"A student who transfers from any school into a member school after the fourth consecutive semester following entry into grade 9 shall be ineligible for competition at any level for one calendar year, but may practice, unless the transfer is made necessary by a total change in residence by parent(s)."

From WIAA Website....based on the "unless the transfer is made necessary by a total change in residence by parent(s)." I think he'd be eligible based on the situation--may need to fill out a transfer waiver though. Either way he can definitely practice.

Yeah it seems like that exception would be likely in his case, without investigating it any further. If he is eligible I'll definitely make an effort to see him play in the tourney.

Does anyone know how the bucks keep tabs on player development in the offseason! I'd love for Giannis and a couple of the other guys to work with Tim Grover or some proven trainer to enhance their skill work and athleticism

I want him working with Durant.

I just want him working here. I hope he doesn't go back to Greece and play for the national team. That, IMO, is the biggest drawback in international guys. Giannis body is still developing and he needs to give it the summer to rest while he works on shooting, spacing, etc. Stay in America, Giannis!

Revisiting Giannis Antetokounmpo (Scouting Video)

by: DraftExpress , Mike Schmitz February 12, 2014

One year ago, we discovered Giannis Antetokounmpo in a tiny gym in Athens, and were immediately taken aback by the significant talent this completely unknown raw prospect possessed. The son of Nigerian immigrants, Antetokounmpo (then known as Adetokunbo) was a citizenship-less 18-year old caught in the bureaucracy of Greek politics, known only to a handful of NBA scouts who were largely skeptical of the anonymous player's potential. Completely off the radar of anyone in the United States at the time, Giannis would go on to be selected 15th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks, a move that was criticized harshly by some on draft night.

Fast forward one year, and Giannis is now viewed as one of the most promising young prospects in the NBA, after unexpectedly seeing significant playing time for the team with the worst record in the league. He will compete in the NBA's Rising Stars Event (formerly known as the Rookie-Sophomore game) and the Skills Challenge at All-Star weekend in the upcoming days.

To celebrate our one year anniversary of seeing the “Greek Freek” for the first time, we revisit some of the footage we first brought to light from the Greek second division a year ago, and compare it with what we're now seeing in the NBA on a nightly basis to evaluate how Giannis is progressing as a basketball player.

Was our selection of Giannis at 15 really criticized? I don't remember hearing any of that criticism. For the most part I think people thought of it as potentially great pick, though he may not produce for 3-4 years.

I remember a lot of people saying that we wasted a pick on a guy that wouldn't even play for us this year and blah blah blah.

I'll never understand the hate though. With Milwaukee, our only hope of landing a star is through the draft or a trade. Why wouldn't you swing for the fences on the only guy in the draft that really had star potential?

I want to see Giannis with a big game tonight. He has been pube like lately. Can't really complain too much given his age though.

David Aldridge was totally hating on the pick in the NBA TV panel draft analysis, while everyone else didn't really say much of anything.

Bill Simmons was the biggest media guy that supported the pick but he didn't seem as supportive during the actual draft on ESPN, perhaps just because of his feelings about how the franchise is run.

He's probably getting a bit of fatigue from the season. Throw in some teammates calling him the "the Franchise" (out of envy) and his participation in All-Star weekend coming up. He'll get it together again, maybe not tonight or even during the AS competitions because of timing but this is just a little slump. All of the shots he's missing have been good attempts, plenty of shots that could've went in.

I wonder which teammates are calling him that. I didn't really feel like egos were a problem, I guess not though. The only guys on the team who seem to like Giannis are Larry, Nate, Miroslav, and MAYBE John, which is too bad because the kid is damn likable.
