Here is the VERY tight scorecard going into MUST WIN Games 50 & 51 (VS 2 teams right in the mix) prior to the ASG with a record of 23-26 (with an outstanding 13-5 record in 2014).
3 games behind the Raptors 27-24 for the 3rd seed & AD - but only 2 games behind in the L column.
2 games behind the Bulls 26-25 for the 4th seed - but only ONE game behind in the L column.
1 1/2 games behind the Hawks 25-25 for the 5th seed - but only ONE game behind in the L column.
1 game behind the Wiz 25-26 for the 6th seed - TIED in the L column.
3 games ahead of the Bobcats & the Pistons (each with 29 losses) in the L column.
It goes without saying that it is put up or shut up time VS the Bobcats tomorrow & the Bulls on Thursday. Time to play aggressively & WIN. No BS. Nets can get to 25-26, take a week off, & then play 6 game West Coast road trip with energy & momentum. Then roll through final 25 game sprint to the end as the **** 3 seed!!!
I want DWill to dominate once & for all.
I want an aggressive JJ.
MT - Make your 3s & space the floor.
SDot - Play like you have been lately.
AA - Play D & spot up.
Dray - Show your talent & no freaking brain dead, bad shots or excessive dribbling.
AK-47 - Keep up your uncanny ability to disrupt & make smart plays. Do NOT shoot anything but dunks & lay-ups.
KG - Play awesome D (JKidd - KG needs to **** play on this b2b, goddamit. He has a week off after the Bulls!)
Terry - Take off this game & in fact the rest of the reason. DNP-CD.
Paul has been excellent in 2014 on O, D & energy/effort-wise, but he has not been looking for his shot aggressively during the last 3 games - after 25 & 33 point games just prior to that. I do not want him to overshoot, but stop the mother **** overpassing Paul & stop being too unselfish. This team needs the Truth down the stretch. Take your legendary/vintage step back Js, keep driving to the hoop, & take 3s only in the flow of the game. Paul has scored between 18 & 33 points in 10 out of the 44 games (23%) that he has played so far - he needs to score in that range in at least 15 of the Nets' remaining 33 games this season (closer to 50%) for the Nets to be maximally successful. He still has plenty of elite game left & he has played 4 minutes less per game so far - which hopefully has better preserved his 36 year old legs.
PS I agree with Prok (amazing as it seems) that there are certain teams against whom the Nets should NOT play small ball.
PPS Get Asik here - even if it means giving up Plumlee (who I like). Add Asik's interior D supporting KG & I think the Nets can at least scare the **** out of the Pacers & the Heat.
For TRB3: I read your comment in the Dick Gregory thread on the GB. He is a courageous outspoken guy, but his comments about Magic are completely ludicrous (in the same totally despicable & idiotic category as the CIA & the Mossad knocking down the Twin Towers). You know that I am a Professor of Medicine, right - aside from PP's greatest fan?

. Your basic understanding of HIV VS. AIDS is correct. Magic never developed full blown AIDS - the multiple life threatening opportunistic infections consequent to depleted T-lymphocytes - because he received FROM THE GET GO outstanding care from Infectious Disease super-docs & a cocktail of anti-HIV drugs (which prevented virus-induced T-cell depletion). He is still at potential risk for premature cardiovascular disease related to HIV-associated lipodystrophy & dyslipidemia - a not uncommon side effect of chronic exposure to anti-HIV medications. Magic was very fortunate that 1) he was famous & very rich; & 2) dramatically more effective anti-HIV drugs became available just after he was diagnosed.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.
